I believe that clarity regarding who you are, what you believe, and why you believe it are among the greatest predictors a good and joyful life. I also know that a "joyful life" can sound absurd when you're struggling with depression and anxiety. My clients and I talk about their ideals and underlying beliefs as context for their struggles. Together we examine the presumptions and expectations that--when left unchecked--lead to so much heartache. We work together to create a narrative of what could and might be instead, along with a solid plan for how to bring new realities into being.
I encourage strength-based emotional, mental and spiritual exploration. I work with adolescents, adults and the occasional parent-child dyad, to help my clients create lives they can love. I'm well versed in the ways that traumatic experiences can impact people's lives, and specialize in treating self-harm and long-standing depression and anxiety.
I love working with folks who worry their histories, lives and identities are too complex or weird for therapy to be helpful. Activists, introverts, geeks, survivors, kinksters, folks with fluid sexual or gender identities, and people who are unsure they want to continue to exist in this world at all. Bring it on.
