Therapy can assist in making hope and healing an attainable goal. I work with individuals and families coping with depression, self esteem, anxiety, behavior problems, relationship issues, adoption, grief, domestic violence, and multicultural issues to help them them in their healing journey, teaching them to refocus on the things that bring true joy. I believe that when clients learn to refocus their thoughts and make key behavioral changes, they are often able to find peace and wellness. A Christ centered approach is offered and discussions of faith are welcome while not mandatory. Client's views are respected and honored.
I operate primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral model, focusing on the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how to bring about change. This approach is well suited to working with a wide variety of issues including Depressive and Anxiety Disorders. Millie, my therapy dog in training, also accompanies me to the office some days.
I grew up in several countries all over the world and have studied other cultures allowing me to offer counseling from a knowledgeable point of view on the unique challenges facing "third culture kids" and their families. I am also well versed in Latin American culture and am fluent in Spanish.
