A large percentage of clients find themselves in chaotic or repetitive situations. They search for an understanding of the origin of their dysfunction and want to move forward in their lives. Therein lies the mystery that we work to solve together. Often, clients desire to know and understand themselves and work with self-esteem issues. Self-esteem often lies at the root of many problems such as relationships, career goals, and social needs. Further, many have a trauma history and would like to work on how that trauma affects their present lives.
I offer compassion and true understanding of whatever a client is dealing with. What is needed is genuine connection and a sense that one has an ally in their journey. When someone finally feels ready to talk, it's good to know that there is someone who can be present to listen and respond empathically.
I find that what keeps people out of therapy is a deep shame about their difficulties. Knowing that someone will be non-judgmental and empathic can help bridge the gap in a life hidden by shame. Bringing problems to the surface is the first step toward healing. Our psyches want to heal. Taking this first step will begin our journey together.
