My practice is based in decades of direct psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families; the teaching of counseling, race, class, gender and the wide range of social identity dynamics; consultation; supervision; research; and publication. I look forward to working with clients eager to explore life challenges in the context of a professional relationship that is supportive, compassionately challenging, well-informed by theory, egalitarian, and appreciative of humor and irony as keys to coping. Severe addiction and severe cognitive or psychiatric challenges are beyond the scope of my practice at present. Private pay only; no medical insurance payments.
I am especially well-equipped to help with issues related to identity - of all sorts and in all ways, particularly ways that do not necessarily conform to current social norms. Please forgive me if I do not respond to your inquiry right away. If you do not hear from me in a week, please assume I have reached capacity, and try again in a couple of months.
I provide consultation, training, and supervision to a wide range of organizations, and I am always willing to explore ways to support sources interested in optimizing their inclusivity practices. For further information please visit www.carloshoyt.com.
