As an EMDR and IFS trauma therapist, I work with people whose parents and caregivers were unable to provide the emotional support and guidance they needed in childhood, even if they were well-intentioned. Ranging from emotional misattunement to outright abuse, these experiences lead to deep-seated (and sometimes unconscious) negative beliefs about oneself and others that precipitate depression, anxiety, unsatisfying careers, disconnected relationships, and difficulty feeling satisfaction and contentment.
When connected to & operating from our true Self, we can cultivate secure—ultimately transformative—attachments to the shunned, shamed, & exiled pain-holding parts of our innermost being. As a former DBT group facilitator, I also provide skills to improve emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
