Hello and welcome! Here’s what you need to know about me: I received a Master of Arts from Appalachian State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, concentrating in Addictions Counseling. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and am working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate. What does all of that mean? I have the formal training to provide counseling. I also hold marginal identities that have led to my own lived experiences with counseling; I know how hard this work can be.
I have enjoyed working with folks that have experienced medical trauma and other sudden major life changes, chronic pain and illness, and substance use issues. I wholeheartedly believe in the mind-body connection and that to address trauma, we must include the body. I also enjoy working with folks that respond well to humor, sarcasm, and willing to work.
My approach to counseling is person-centered, meaning that I believe you are the expert of your life and your needs. Together, we will use a combination of techniques from motivational interviewing, harm reduction, gestalt therapy, and expressive arts to guide you toward your goals. I am here to be with you as we navigate your journey of healing together.
