You often ask yourself, "What's wrong with me? Why can't I function like anyone else?" You've internalized failure, powerlessness and shame, feeling trapped and stuck with no way out. But where did it all begin? I doubt "something is truly wrong with you." In fact, I believe you're just noticing that things have not been sustainable and you long for a change and an opportunity at life— that's a sign of your sanity!

I have training and experience in a variety of therapeutic approaches--play therapy, Filial Therapy, expressive arts, sand tray, EMDR, and mindfulness, as well as "talk" therapy.
Sometimes, the stress of daily life can exhaust our ability to cope. A child struggling in school, family conflicts, traumatic events, major life transitions, the loss of a loved one, friend, or pet, financial and/or medical issues, pregnancy and the birth of a child—all of these experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed, helpless, and defeated. From experience and research, we know that stressful experiences--sudden or chronic--can lead to feelings of disconnection, sadness, anxiety, low self-esteem, and conflict within ourselves and with our friends and loved ones.

For me, healing by definition, is the process of returning to wholeness. Yet, what that means is unique to each individual. Here in lies the journey. I hold great passion, and respect, for the potential we all have to create change in our own lives. I approach change through a trauma-informed, somatic (body-based), and Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) foundation. In conjunction with an intuitive and empathetic approach, I strive to create a safe, supportive space for folx to explore their inner worlds and the challenges that may be holding them back from a sense of wholeness.

I individualize treatment, weaving Relational, Jungian, and Expressive Arts Therapy with CBT, DBT and ACT based on your needs.
I am here to tell you, you are not broken, even if your mind may tell you so. When we are anxious or in despair, we can’t think straight or engage our usual survival strategies. It can impact our health, body, emotions, relationships, perception of self and reality. We can't make sense of the distorted thoughts alone. We need a therapist to help guide us. I often help young women who are feeling shy, anxious, obsessive, depressed, struggling with perfectionism or life transitions. I enjoy helping girls and women achieve developmentally appropriate social-emotional, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Using a holistic blend of trauma-informed, liberation focused somatic, ecospiritual, and expressive arts therapy, we will focus on creating necessary and important boundaries, healing experiences of trauma, exploring the ways your life and legacies have shaped you and release what doesn't nourish you, and resourcing you to mutually affirming community.
As an LGBTQIA empath, intuitive, or artist, you experience this world in a deeper, more complex, intuitive way - including painful experiences of trauma. With so much pain in the world, it's hard to care for your own feelings and needs, let alone heal from your experiences of trauma. I specialize in supporting LGBTQIA empaths, artists, and magic makers to heal from the trauma of oppression, abuse, and sexual violence and reclaim their power. To embrace their own sacred needs and gifts. And to connect with the power of QT ancestors and community, ecospirituality, creativity, joy, and nourished activism.

Integrating relational-cultural and social justice oriented frameworks with expressive arts, narrative therapy, and archetypal mythology, I hope to support you in rewriting your story and (re)connecting to your authentic self.
As human beings, we may desire freedom, fulfillment, or meaning in our lives. But sometimes, the mind can trap us in its false narratives. I work with multicultural expats, global nomads, & children of immigrants struggling to find their place and sense of belonging in the world, artists/creatives of color grappling with creators’ block and self-doubt, and South Asian teens & adults in the diaspora interested in exploring how perfectionism, unrealistic societal/familial expectations, and cultural heritage (including religion, spirituality, sexuality, caste, class, race) impact their emotional well-being and who they are as people.

Expressive Arts Therapists
What happens in expressive arts therapy?
In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.
How long does expressive arts therapy take?
An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.
How does expressive arts therapy help children?
Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.
What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?
Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
