I enjoy working with individuals, couples, teens and tweens who may be struggling with a myriad of issues such as: navigating a difficult life transition, confronting issues of low self-esteem or a lack of belonging; parenting concerns, anxiety, depression, teen angst, grief and loss, childhood traumas and other relational or spiritual challenges.
Each of us has the innate wisdom to guide us towards well-being, yet sometimes, we need help accessing that inner voice. Whether you are seeking short-term, issue specific solutions to your relationship, family or work challenges, or wanting to delve more deeply into freeing yourself from patterns that keep you stuck, I offer a compassionate style, rich in understanding and humor. I have taught mindfulness to teens and adults at Spirit Rock since 2002. And in our work together, I can offer tools to help you learn how to pause and skillfully listen to the wisdom within.

You are not alone. I enjoy working with postpartum and pregnant woman and couples. The transition to parenthood is often a time of excitement but also a time of great change and disruption. Thinking together about the impact the arrival of a baby will have/has had on your identity, relationship and lifestyle can alleviate many stressors and fears. I believe therapy can help you to gain new insights and a new perspective on how to connect with others, effectively cope with stress and pursue the life you desire.

We are moving out of challenging times and it's not a straight line for everyone. Many are rethinking who they are and what's important to them or still soothing elevated worry and fear. I help individuals still healing or having unrelated anxiety, sadness, stress, a desire for authenticity or those wanting to live their best lives but feeling stuck by experiences in the past. I also work with couples who want to strengthen their relationships, improve communication, work through resentment or a particular sticking point. I offer therapy primarily by video or phone and currently offer Thursdays at my office in downtown Larkspur.

If you’re here, I imagine you may have found yourself exhausted, stuck, and suffering despite your best efforts. Maybe you're so chronically overwhelmed from trying to balance the demands of life that you find yourself unable to enjoy any moments of rest or recharge. Or you feel that despite how far you've come in achieving your goals you're never doing enough, and you're losing sight of why those goals matter in the first place. Maybe you silently struggle with a deep-seated fear that you're one misstep away from proving yourself an imposter and losing all that you've worked towards. Do you worry you'll never stop feeling this way?

Do you ever feel like no matter how much you achieve, it’s never enough? On paper, everything looks perfect—successful career, relationships, accomplishments. But beneath the surface, the relentless pressure to meet impossibly high standards leaves you feeling exhausted. You find yourself driven by perfectionism, constantly striving for more, but it never feels like it’s enough. The anxiety that comes when life can’t be perfectly controlled is crippling, and despite all your efforts, the peace and fulfillment you’re longing for feel further out of reach. The cost of this perfectionism is high and isn't sustainable anymore for you.

I offer a holistic approach to overcoming depression, anxiety, relational issues, and the effects of childhood trauma.
Everyone wants to feel that they are good enough. The reality though, is that most of us struggle to feel that we are acceptable and lovable just as we are. If you resonate with this, you're not alone. These beliefs tend to operate in the background of your mind, subconsciously influencing your self-esteem, limiting the way you show up in relationships, work and leisure, and creating painful cycles of depression and anxiety. Therapy with me is a safe space to challenge patterns, expand limiting beliefs, heal your inner child, and develop a wise, confident, and secure authentic self to guide you through the ups and downs of life.

" How great would it be to fully live the life you want? I want you to experience relief and see you kick the worry and doubt to the curb.
You know how most smart, accomplished professionals have a lot going right in their lives but there is this one "if only" part of their lives that keeps them up at night. They are feeling worried, frustrated & anxious. And they are such wonderful people that you just wish they could have what they want. Maybe this feels familiar & you can relate to wanting something to be different so badly. But for some reason it just doesn't seem to change. This is when we feel disconnected from our most powerful, carefree selves & we're not sure how to find relief.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
