I utilize techniques such as EMDR, CBT, Hypnosis and other somatic techniques.
Seeking help for trauma is an act of immense courage. Just by considering therapy, you've already taken a significant first step, and that speaks volumes about your strength. Trauma can leave lasting scars, shaping how we see ourselves and the world around us. However, healing is not only possible, it's within reach. Through therapy, you can begin to process your experiences, build effective coping strategies, and regain your sense of safety and control. In my practice, I use a trauma-informed approach designed to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can explore at your own pace.

I provide a personalized approach utilizing CBT and EMDR modalities which are really effective for these kinds of issues.
You appear to be doing well in life to others and yet internally you’re grappling with anxiety, self-doubt, or a persistent feeling of not being good enough. Perhaps trauma or a highly stressful event(s) still haunt you, despite your accomplishments. Your success does not have to come at the cost of your well-being. Imagine feeling more balanced, a sense of peace, being able to embrace your skills and achievements with assurance, recognizing and celebrating your true worth, and moving past trauma to experience emotional freedom, resilience, and genuine joy.

My goal is to plant seeds of change in people who are seeking growth and insight. It's often difficult to seek assistance and once the search begins it is often halted if the right connection isn't made between the client and therapist. I am here to provide a safe space where feelings to be processed and perspectives can be explored.

As a clinician, I utilize an integrative approach including Person-Centered techniques, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Gestalt, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR).
I like to take a comprehensive, collaborative approach to treatment and focus on building a professional and positive relationship versus treating a diagnosis. To me, it is important to build a genuine relationship based on trust, openness and honesty, that emphasizes meeting the client where they’re at. I believe the client is an expert in their own lives and my role is to help them become a healthier, happier version of themselves.

I offer solutions-focused coaching-style therapy for rebellious, high-achieving folks with depression and EMDR for Black women - all in service of getting you out of those same ol patterns of people pleasing, avoiding conflict, and playing small that keep you bound to a version of yourself that you don't recognize.
Is your sense of self slipping through your fingers? Maybe you're feeling exhausted by what living up to someone else’s standards has meant for you. . . but just the thought of putting your needs ahead of everyone else's sends you into a guilt spiral. Or maybe you followed all the rules, did everything “right,” and you’re still not seeing the proof of "happiness" and "success" in your pudding. I. Get. It. I've been there (and made it out) and now I coach adults navigating their own life transitions how to reclaim their agency after educational, workplace, and relational trauma.

Trauma is a lasting emotional response resulting from experiencing one or more distressing events that can change our sense of safety, sense of self and the ability to self-regulate, navigate daily interactions and relationships. For almost 20 years I have worked with survivors of sexual trauma, abusive relationships and intimate partner violence. Since 2016 I have been practicing individual and group therapy with survivors and I have used various therapy modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy ( EMDR) to process traumatic and adverse experiences that aids in reaching an adaptive resolution.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
