My specialties are conflict, depression, anxiety, & trauma.
As emotional healing takes place, we awaken to ourselves, to others, to our lives. My work initially involves setting up an environment of safety and trust. In this surround, challenges from the past and present can be unearthed, explored and used to our advantage. Growth is born of struggle, not comfort. Building a story of your experiences, helps one find continuity and purpose in life. I am present, listening and feeling as our work unfolds. I challenge and confront but also validate one's experiences and emotional responses to those experiences. Being seen, heard and understood begets healing.

I tend to view therapy through a trauma-informed lens, which acknowledges that many of us may have been forced to adapt or change out of necessity in response to unfavorable circumstances or distressing experiences.
Life can be hard and we're all trying to navigate its challenges as best we can. This can often come at the cost of losing connection with who we truly are. In my practice, I always make the effort to meet you where you're at in your life in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner as I assume that many of the things you want to change may have served a really important purpose at some point in your history. From here, we will work together to rediscover your true self so that you can construct a more satisfying life that is authentically aligned with your values, needs, and desires.

As a trauma-informed, mindset-based practice the goal is always to allow you to feel safe and heard while allowing for the pain and challenges to be brought up to the forefront to allow for the impact of them to be reduced over time.

I work with individuals wanting to break out of co-dependency, self-sabotaging, and trauma which can show up as chronic emotional/physical pain and leave you feeling stuck and confused.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, depressed or stuck, I recognize the impact it can have on your relationships, goals, self-esteem and how you feel in your mind and body. If you find yourself affected by difficult events, grief, and trauma from your past, I understand how it can interfere with daily life making it difficult to focus mentally, relax physically, and enjoy the things you once loved. You do not have to go through this alone. I am committed to providing compassionate support and guidance as we work together to find clarity, joy and reclaim ease in your mind, body and spirit. Change is possible. Healing is possible.

I have expertise in working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, family dynamics, trauma, and maternal mental health among other things.
My goal is to help people with the many facets and challenges life may bring. I believe in empowering a person to take control of their life and working on issues that they may have struggled with and could be affecting them. The vulnerability of welcoming a child into a family, having lost a loved one, divorce, depression, relationship problems, or life transitions may bring up unresolved issues and new challenges, but it also provides an opportunity to heal and stop cycles of intergenerational trauma and ultimately provide healing. The goal is to help you thrive just not survive in life.

I’m a licensed therapist with over 17 years of clinical experience and a subject matter expert in the field of trauma.
Despite our inherent need to search for meaning in life, none of us were given an instructional handbook on how to achieve happiness and well-being at birth. Even under the best of circumstances it is difficult to cultivate inner peace while navigating the difficulties of social expectations, residual childhood experiences, emotional regulation and forming social connections. When trauma is added to the equation, life becomes a constant act of coping instead of growing. If you feel like your journey has become wrought with indecision, impulsivity, or emptiness; it might be time to invite someone to walk alongside you.

Hello, my name is Elias Ellis. I am a licensed clinical social worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I received my Master of Social Work degree from California State University Dominguez Hills and my Bachelor of Social Work from Arkansas State University. Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
