On a personal level, I understand how difficult it is to struggle with OCD and related disorders.
Do you find yourself struggling with intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors? Are you noticing skin picking, hair pulling, or nail biting? Do you feel the need to acquire new items and/or hold onto existing items? You may be suffering from OCD, Anxiety, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), and/or Hoarding Disorder. These disorders can feel isolating and overwhelming, but there are evidenced-based treatments that can help!

I also place a strong emphasis on Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) techniques when addressing OCD and other specific phobias.
I specialize in addressing concerns related to OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life adjustment issues. I aim to work collaboratively with my clients to empower them to find the solutions that work best for them. Before beginning my career as a therapist, I spent several years working in various sectors of the entertainment industry. This experience gave me a keen understanding of the many issues individuals in the field face. I seek to use my experience to help other professionals navigate the complexities and common issues seen within the business.

I help teens, adults, and couples navigate anxiety, relationship issues, sexual concerns, and OCD.
Looking for a therapist who truly gets you—someone sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, poly and kink-savvy, who also understands the complexities and nuances of OCD? If you’re tired of feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and stuck in the same old thought loops, you’re not alone. It’s time to embrace the parts of your identity you’ve been hesitant to explore because of what others might think and challenge those anxious thoughts. You’re ready for change, and you deserve a supportive, non-judgmental space to make it happen.

These evidence-based therapies have repeatedly been shown to be effective in treating OCD and Anxiety disorders.
Do you feel overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts/images or unrelenting anxiety? Are you constantly seeking reassurance or performing rituals to feel better? You may be experiencing OCD or an Anxiety disorder. These disorders operate on what we call the Vicious Cycle: 1) encounter trigger or obsessive thought/image 2) experience distress 3) engage in compulsions or safety behaviors, which leads to 4) relief. The frustrating part about this cycle is that the relief is short-lived. Before you know it, the intrusive thoughts/images and compulsions are back, taking up more time and mental resources to cope.

I treat anxiety and OCD in teens and adults using a user-friendly cognitive-behavioral approach.
As a clinical psychologist, I help individuals who are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, and loss. I teach my clients to practice what I call "the reverse golden rule": treat yourself as you would treat others! We are often so critical of ourselves, while with a friend we would be kind, supportive, compassionate. My 20+ years of experience have given me the tools to work using an eclectic approach that I tailor to each client. I offer a comfortable, safe environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, where you can feel heard, understood, and validated.

Beginning therapy is generally a decision that has been contemplated and carefully considered for quite some time. It requires an incredible amount of courage to take that first step and face what is no longer working in your life. I specialize in the treatment of OCD, eating disorders, BFRBs, and anxiety disorders. In addition to individual therapy I offer IOP (intensive outpatient program) and wellness coaching programs to address issues related to food, body image, and care for physical health. I completed my BA in Psychology at Cal State University Northridge and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch Los Angeles.

The decision to engage a therapist is deeply personal and may seem challenging. It is a unique relationship, where ideally, you can be in a safe, empathic environment and talk to someone with in depth psychological training and significant life experience. I offer both to my clients, treating individuals, couples, children, adolescents and families. These relationships have led me to focus on the treatment of: anxiety, depression, relational communications, work place stressors, substance use/abuse, attachment disorders, emotional regulation issues, self image, family systems, ADHD, grief and loss, parenting, obsessive/compulsive behaviors, impulse control, mood disorders and relational conflicts.

For the past ten years, I have worked as a therapist and clinical director at the residential level of care helping individuals who suffer from eating disorders and related issues like anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, substance use, relationship issues, and a lack of self-knowing/self-worth.
As human beings, we are all on the same journey of self-understanding, self-compassion, self-growth and the belief in our self-worth. What I have seen happen time after time is that people get stuck in the lack of self-compassion and then struggle to move forward from there. This leaves them with more insecurities, anxiety, and depression that drive other unhealthy behavior use. People so often feel disconnected from their inner strengths. My goal is to help clients reconnect with their internal resources so they can move past the doubt and judgement and take that next step towards self-compassion and a better sense of self-worth.

I have experience treating children and adolescents with a variety of concerns, including behavioral issues, trauma, attention disorders (ADHD), adjustment disorder, issues related to adoption, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief, generalized anxiety, separation anxiety and depression.
Is your child experiencing problems at school, difficulty making or keeping friends, tantrums, constant worrying or nightmares? I have a passion for working with children and families, and I'm here to help. There is so much pressure today to be a "perfect" parent, and admitting that you need support can be difficult. My goal is to create a safe space for you and your child to work together to problem-solve and get through challenging times.

My areas of expertise are working with teens, young adults, and adults who are dealing with anxiety, OCD, life transitions, depression, imposter syndrome, and relationship issues.
Life is complex and sometimes we need a little extra support. Therapy can provide a space to manage these complexities, better understand yourself, and take steps toward creating the self-image and life you strive for. We can work together to create a collaborative relationship where you can heal, express yourself in a non-judgmental safe space, and lead a more meaningful life. I am passionate about working with individuals to increase their self-awareness, build their strengths, and explore options to move through the world a little easier.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
