My work often centers around folks who are experiencing grief or loss, healing from trauma, navigating life transitions, or experiencing relational challenges. My areas of specialty are neurodivergence ( autism, ADHD, etc.), gender exploration, and BPD. I also support folks who are dealing with overwhelming anxiety, depression, dissociation, or cPTSD. I am queer-affirming and trans-affirming. I also have familiarity with spiritual and religious trauma. I bring an anti-oppressive, postmodern, and trauma-informed framework into my work. I support individual adults, kids, families, and couples.

They aim to understand their autism, ADHD, or queer identity deeply.
As a neurodivergent or queer individual in today's society, you feel pressured to conceal your true self, anxious about potential rejection if you express yourself authentically. You often mimic others to fit in, hide your true self, and strive for perfection to gain acceptance. Simply for being yourself, you're labeled as "weird," "strange," or "different," which deepens feelings of isolation. Whether you're exploring your neurodivergence, gender, or sexuality for the first time or grappling with understanding your needs, there is a path forward from surviving to thriving.

I am a queer multicultural nonbinary AuDHD therapist who creates a nonjudgemental space for their clients. I mainly focus on the trans and nonbinary experience, complex trauma, chronic & terminal illnesses, grief, AuDHD & autism. I have clinical and personal experiences regarding my specializations. I have a deep capacity for working with trauma & supporting clients who think their story is “too heavy” for others to bear. I am really good at helping you (re)connect with who you are, who you want to be & figuring out how self-care looks like for you. Whatever we work on, I will create a safe environment and affirm your experience.

I believe therapy is a container for self-expression where you can show up exactly as you are. As a person with lived experience of being queer, Arab, Non-binary, and Muslim, I have seen first hand how difficult it is to find someone whose values align around the importance of community and is committed to a trauma-informed framework. Growing up in a world that constantly feeds us narratives such as “healing happens alone” and “we are solely responsible for the state of our own wellbeing” can be deeply challenging and frustrating. Together, we will dismantle the notion of isolation as a symbol of strength.

It can be difficult to find a dedicated space in which you can safely process your experiences. I would consider it a privilege to try and build that trust with you. As a therapist, it is my responsibility to ground myself in curiosity and humility as I bear witness to your life's navigations. Whether that be pleasure, anxiety, identity, interpersonal dynamics, chronic stress, life transitions, personal or sociopolitical heartbreaks- we can explore your experience together. Through connection and collaboration, we can rewrite and expand the stories we tell ourselves and those told to us, allowing for more room to breathe.

Healing from trauma, reclaiming power, growing from struggle and learning to work WITH emotions rather than AGAINST them are the goals I strive to support my clients in achieving. I want to help my clients move beyond simply not feeling so depressed, anxious, angry or manic. I want to help them transcend their pain, feel like they are fulfilling their purpose in life, are able to truly love themselves and are cultivating relationships that feed their soul. Narrative Therapy teaches my clients to transform the meaning of what they have been through and techniques from Existential Therapy help clients create or discover their purpose.

I'm a therapist because therapy saved my life. Through that lived experience, and with education and training, I help clients improve relationships with themselves and others, exploring a variety of topics like trauma, gender, people-pleasing, OCD, boundaries, and perfectionism. My clients are thoughtful folks who have done the best they can on their own and are looking for additional support. They seek to expand their perspective, to feel differently in the world, and want lasting change. Together we'll create that change, and I firmly believe in your inherent worth, power, and self-determination to facilitate the shift you seek.

“Bridging is the work of opening the gate to the stranger, within and without.” – Gloria E. Anzaldúa. You’re at an inflection point. The ground has shifted; you find yourself on rocky terrain. The trail’s end is hazy, but you catch a glimpse: the outline of a hopeful future, somehow. Let us nurture those neglected pieces of yourself too oft ignored. With sincerity, compassion, and levity, I offer steady company on your voyage. You’ll discover bridges to yourself, your loved ones, and the goals that matter to you. The discourse shall be rich; the reflection, deep; the change, meaningful. You needn’t travel alone.

Transitions are hard. There is often so much shame around trying to figure out who we are and asking for what we want. Am I going to burden others? Am I too much for people if I ask for something that I desire? Am I being "selfish"? Who am I to "demand" others for things I don't think I "deserve"? If these are some of the questions you have asked yourself, then I'm here to help. It's okay to feel lost, like you're wandering the woods alone. I'm here for you so we can wander these woods together.

Looking for a fresh perspective on mental health and support? As a neurodivergent, queer, and disabled therapist, I know what it is like to not see yourself in your therapist. I'm a therapist with ADHD- I'm going to understand the grief you feel when talking about your past and how different it would have been if the world was built with neurodiverse people in mind. I'm a therapist with chronic illness- I'll understand how flares, injustice, and medical trauma effects your brain and your inner world. This world was not made for us in mind, but my counseling space was. Welcome!

My psychotherapeutic work centers on increasing awareness in the present moment to help meet life's obstacles and challenges. I believe that becoming more fully present moves through barriers to well-being and can open previously hidden pathways to inner understanding. Working with thoughts, feelings, and emotions in the present, we paradoxically uncover the past and discover connections to ourselves and our community. My work focuses on spirituality, existential considerations, trauma, family of origin patterns and history, couple relationships, sexuality, and gender exploration.

I believe there is opportunity for healing within the suffering we experience. Psychotherapy can be a way to turn directly toward what is happening for you and engage with how it impacts you. It is in this looking that growth and change happens, using awareness in the present moment as a way to help you understand and release the pains of the past, fears of the future, and limiting old beliefs. Together, we can support you to discover, reconnect to, use and understand your own skills and strengths. I love working with adults from diverse backgrounds who are wanting to make a change in their lives, communities, and our world.

Autism Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for autism?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?

Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?

Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
