Embarking on therapy requires a leap of faith, a hopeful exploration for relief from overwhelming states, and a quest for deeper insight and meaning—sometimes encompassing both. The initial steps toward seeking support may seem daunting, yet they often yield rewarding outcomes. My foundational training draws from Psychodynamic, Depth, and Humanistic traditions, seamlessly integrated with cutting-edge developments in attachment theory, neuroscience, and the body’s stress response. We collaborate on a strengths-based, client-centered approach, ensuring that each treatment plan is finely tuned to address your unique needs.

Addiction cannot be overcome simply by knowing what it is or acknowledging its presence in your life. Nor can it be squashed by sheer will power. Many of our clients say they have felt that they could "just handle this by themselves," but once they reached out to us and got the help they needed, they realized that even if you can "just handle this alone," no one, including you, should ever have to. By reaching out to us, you are stating you are ready to bring balance back to your life.

In my work with children and teenagers, I see behavior as having meaning. Difficult behaviors such as defiance, tantrums, aggression, and isolation are often the youth’s maladaptive attempts at communicating emotions. I see my role as a facilitator of effective communication, collaborating with youth to understand their experiences and identify/verbalize their thoughts and feelings. With a decade of working with kids in a variety of settings, I work primarily from a relational and attachment-based foundation, which utilizes compassion, attunement, and co-regulation to promote wellbeing through enhanced relationships and self-worth.

The journey to self-improvement often begins with a single step: recognizing the need for change. In my practice, I understand that problematic behaviors, such as drug and alcohol abuse, often stem from unmanaged issues. While these behaviors may have initially served as coping mechanisms, they often exacerbate the original problems. I offer a helping hand to guide you through the process of change.

Therapy is about exploring transitions and losses. A loss of a relationship, a job, a lifestyle, a home, a friendship, or the loss of a dream or expectation. We dismiss some losses, not realizing their impact on our day to day life. We may suffer from anxiety or depression without understanding why they are present. Other losses, however, can be so traumatic that we lose our ability to heal from them. Moreover, we find ourselves repeating the same mistakes, not being able to transform ourselves and change our behavior, even when we realize that our reactions are unhelpful and self-destructive. We wonder whether life will be better.

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful parts of us” - David Richo. Many of us struggle with the wounds of our past, the pain that we might be struggling with in our present, or the uncertainty of our future. Change can be scary; and sometimes it can feel easier to stay in the known, even when that brings fear, pain, or resentment. You being here recognizes that there is a part of you that is interested in changing. I come to you as a woman of color, a first-generation American, a mother, and a therapist – these roles influence my approach.

It is a passion of mine to work with others toward becoming better versions of themselves, and live a life that fulfills them. Taking that first step in starting therapy can be intimidating, but so worth it. I work with young and middle-aged adults focusing on anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, academic/career stress, self worth, dating/relational challenges, LGBTQ+ identity and experience, and desire for individual growth. I also work with trainees, associates, and licensed therapists, offering support for imposter syndrome, work and life balance, burnout, and systemic challenges in mental healthcare.
