Hi, I'm Danica Garcia, I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist doing telehealth from Northern California. I have experience in a variety of specialties, but my current focus is helping my clients heal from trauma in a warm and grounding context. I see adults of all ages in individual therapy with a focus on how the past is affecting current functioning in order to bring wholeness and healing. I’m excited to join PATH as a Therapist. I’m a highly experienced Therapist (LCSW) with 20 years of experience. I have worked across various Behavioral Health Programs. I received my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, and substance abuse from Stanislaus State University and my master’s degree in Social Work from California State University Stanislaus. I also received specialized substance abuse addiction while completing my master’s degree. I was also instrumental in the leadership program bringing the Substance Abuse Program to Stanislaus State University.

It is my belief that people have the ability to change and transform into the person they truly want to be. Life can sometimes be overwhelming and full of challenges. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients to share, grow, safely express themselves and develop their own solutions. I work with individuals, families, adolescents, and children who are experiencing various challenges including: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, and struggles related to past trauma.

After over 19 years working in the emergency medical service field, as an emergency medical technician and paramedic, I realized how a healthy state of mind can have a significant impact on an individual's physical health. Throughout my career, I helped thousands of individuals in their most vulnerable state, primarily by helping them feel safe and secure as well as empathizing and showing sincere compassion. In doing this, I witnessed a significant decrease in their physical symptoms as well as their emotional state.

My master's degree incorporated a Somatic and Buddhist mindful approach with a blend of Western psychology. My unique background of being half Indian and Japanese gives me an insight into multicultural issues. My approach is eclectic and holistic.
