As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with clients living with a range of experiences which often include healing Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), self-discovery and acceptance within oppressive systems, finding wholeness after narcissistic abuse, and strengthening the heart after the loss of a loved one. To assist, I use an eclectic approach that can include theories from EMDR Therapy, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and the Internal Family System. When artfully combined, these principles help to awaken change and ripple out improvement in the internal and external realities.

Please note that I also provide workshops, talks and individualized consultation for organizations wanting to address any of the following: work culture and environment, work bereavement, organizational compassion, team communication and more.
Imagine the following: you have been using the same paint palette for a while. You never clean the palette, so all the paint from the past years have dried on top of each other. One day, you feel uneasy with the top color so you decide to rip it off. It isn't until you turn it over that you see all the colors and realize they cannot be separated from each other. I focus on the clients as a whole and I believe that whatever brings you to therapy is deeply rooted in your cumulative life experiences, not in isolation.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including loss, childhood trauma, fear/ anxiety, sexuality, relationships, inner-critic and life-path struggles.
I am interested in your unique life journey, your struggles and your deepest longings. Therapy helps transform limiting patterns that keep us stuck and unable to experience life in a more fulfilling and nourishing way. With a compassionate and collaborative presence, I support others in reconnecting with themselves, deepening relationships, and feeling aligned with their true nature. Uncovering obstacles and connecting with inner guidance helps alleviate suffering and makes room for new possibilities and enlivening choices to emerge.

My training as a Jungian Psychoanalyst enables me to work closely with clients to explore dreams and creative images as well as their daily lives and history. I bring my full presence, sense of humor, intuition, and spiritual understanding to the therapeutic process.

I believe that people can suffer less in their grief and that none of us have to walk alone in this journey.
Are you tired of grieving alone? There's so much you want to express but it’s hard to talk with most friends, family, or others. You go back and forth between fear and anger, and often feel stuck in your grief. Sometimes you'd prefer to feel numb and other times you wish you could burrow yourself deep inside your loss. You know the answer is not to "move on" but you struggle with how to "move forward." It makes you wonder if you're doing this “correctly” or if it will ever get better. It seems like you are finally ready to reach out for help but it's hard to take that first step.

My specialties include grief & loss; relationship struggles; rebuilding identity after a break-up or divorce; healing from discrimination; adjusting to culture/reverse culture shock; navigating life with processing differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia or ASD; as well as, coping with self-doubt, and vertical/social mobility adjustment.
Finding the right therapist can be a daunting process, yet it is one that really matters. It is understandable to feel out of sorts, isolated, or misunderstood when experiencing relationship, family, peer, academic, or workplace stress, during a life transition, or when recovering from trauma. You may also be struggling with a death, the end of a relationship, a relocation from another state or country, an adjustment to a health issue of yourself or a loved one, or being in an environment in which you feel you don't fit. It can be painful to experience these feelings and to try to find a way forward. You don't have to do this alone.

Affordable and accessible therapy is a necessity. I have two main concentrations to my practice: 1) I work with those interested in a confidential therapeutic setting to resolve complex psychological states and feelings (such as anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, trauma, childhood, relationship difficulties, personal grief, fear, shame, worthlessness, and existential questions about meaning-in-life). 2) I work in a consultant capacity for individuals with prescribed short-term, career-minded professional goals (public speaking, presentations, social skills, deadlines, writer's block, and management strategies).

I am an interactive therapist. I help clients attain their therapy goals more quickly by taking an active role, rather than simply mirroring their feelings, which I also do. I focus primarily on mind/body connections, however, my overall approach is creative and eclectic. In therapy we explore the past, finding connections to current patterns that cause pain and dysfunction; then work on bringing the client's life into balance. I have many years working in business, schools and private practice, working with depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, addictions, bereavement, relationship problems, occupational stresses, at-risk adolescents and marital problems.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
