My approach is client-centered with an emphasis on safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship. Specialties include relationship difficulties; performance anxiety; social anxiety; coping with illness; trauma survivors; crisis intervention; grief and loss; and life transitions. I have trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities and have found that unresolved grief and trauma is often at the heart of emotional and relationship problems. I am certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.

I believe childhood experiences create the template for adult life. Early losses, separations and trauma define the choices of strategies or defenses we use as adults. Pain and suffering can be caused by these early experiences. It is my job as a therapist to join my clients in their journey of discovery of these templates and help them to gain a more fulfilled life. I provide individual, couples and family counseling services in both English and Spanish in a safe, comfortable environment. My approach is tailored to each client, to meet them on their journey of discovery to finding a more fulfilled life.

Greetings! My name is Roger Peters. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, with over 17 years of experience. My experiences range from providing counseling to children in a school-based program, drug and alcohol treatment for adults and adolescents, crisis residential, and level 14 group homes. I have worked with Transitional Age Youth (TAY) clients that struggle with the daily stressors of transitioning into adulthood, and I have worked with older adults that struggle with severe mental illness.

I enjoy working with young adult and adolescent clients and the age-specific issues that these groups commonly experience. It's so difficult to be at an age where you're expected to act like an adult but are still treated like a child - this experience can be confusing and breed feelings of self-doubt and insecurity. I work with my clients to help normalize these feelings and experiences as well as help them make sense of things in the world and within themselves through the transition from adolescence into adulthood.

I'm a mom and a wife of seventeen years, and I listen and counsel drawing from life experience, as well as my clinical training.
