Do you feel depressed, anxious or emotionally stuck? Feeling lost or overwhelmed? Life is full of up and down, and a lot of us chose to hide true feeling and try to move on. However, like physical injury, emotional wound needs appropriate attention & treatment too. If you let me, I would appreciate this great opportunity to join you on your journey of feeling, healing and growing. As a licensed clinical social worker with 6 years’ experience in the field, I have worked passionately with individuals, families, adults, hospital patients and children to learn positive ways and skills to cope with many stressors in life.

I work with various issues such as trauma, family conflict, faith, identity, grief, boundaries, etc.
Loneliness, pain, fear, and loss can weigh so heavy on our hearts and block us from fully living out our lives with joy and purpose. If you are in a place of feeling trapped and in need of relief and hope, I am so glad you are here. It is from my own experiences with grief, anxiety, and depression, and the healing I received from therapy that I felt called to be a therapist. I have a heart to create a warm and inviting space for my clients to show up as they are and feel fully heard, seen, and accepted. I desire to support and empower my clients as they process through their pain and work towards healing and transformation.

work with adults who may feel a bit lost and not sure how to get their lives back on track due to a life transition (New parents, Relationship challenges, relocations, Divorce, Retirement, Loss of a partner).
My name is Danielle Gersh, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I am a people person. I believe relationships help build trust and I would like to get to know you, so I can better understand what approach fits your needs. I believe different approaches are effective for different folks, since "one size" does not fit all. We can explore your feelings that are holding you back, patterns of behaviors that are not working well for you, and/or focus on how to move past an unexpected event. We will work together to better understand your needs.

Is your life at crossroads? Are you questioning everything, including what you want to do with your life? Do you know what you actually want to do? Growing up, you, who identify as sensitive, introverted, queer, and/or part of the minority, often felt like you don’t fit in. You learned to survive…becoming what other people wanted. As an adult, you realize you aren’t living the life you wanted. If you are of a minority identity and a young working professional, it is also likely no one prepared you for the transition from school to work.

I have worked with clients who faced issues with depression, anxiety, self worth, relentless inner chatter, complicated relationships, transitional life stages, infertility, public speaking, the global pandemic and generational cultural expectations which differ from one's own values. What everyone does have in common is that they are looking for a better relationship with themselves and others. I understand you because of my experience and I know how to assist you in overcoming your life challenges. You are not alone.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
