If you are struggling feeling stuck, are overwhelmed by anxiety, OCD thoughts, and strong emotions, or have found yourself dreading situations that bring up fear and worry, therapy can help. Through development of certain strategies you can get "unstuck" and begin to feel more like the person you want to be. I specialize utilizing ERP which is the gold standard in OCD treatment. I also enjoy incorporating values work (ACT) to assist people in developing skills that will result in them realigning with values, finding meaning and purpose and gaining confidence even in the face of anxiety and depression.

I am an anxiety and OCD specialist and relationship therapist with over 11 years of experience as a meditation teacher.
What would life without anxiety, ruminating thoughts, and existential fears feel like? What if you learned to navigate your fears with more finesse and ease? Anxiety is like a bully that follow you around, whispers in your ear your worst "what-if's", and then pulls out the rug from underneath your feet every time. Let's work towards a sense of clarity and stability you've been yearning for since you first started seeking an out from these never-ending fears.

It's okay to ask for help. In fact, it's brave! We live in a busy and uncertain world with many expectations. Often times people feel like they aren't enough or that there is something wrong with them. You may feel you are not thin enough, a good enough mom, student, partner, employee, etc. But you are enough! And you are not a problem to be fixed! You are a human to be understood! Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, OCD, addiction, or how to navigate life in general, my goal is to create a space for you to feel safe enough to show up as you are and to know that it's okay to not be okay.

I have helped adults with anxiety, OCD, phobias, relationship/family issues, life goals, stressful life transitions, depression, anger management, and Asian American issues.
Searching for a therapist that fits for your needs can be a challenging process. I view therapy as a mutual exploration of self, to help you understand your ways of thinking and feeling that can block your path. Therapy is one form of help that can transform your life. I believe the process of change is a deep connection to self and listening to your own inner wisdom. Together we will embark on a journey of self-discovery, staying open to the different parts of you: hidden emotions, unspoken thoughts, and deep desires. All of it can be available to you and waiting to be found.

I practice each intervention through distinctive situations my clients may experience when living with trauma and mental health which can develop symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and co-occurring addictive disorders.
Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

Life is difficult, and the goal is not to live an easy problem-free life, but to learn to face the adversities of life and engage with it. Often when we get overwhelmed we either try to avoid our problems, overthink them, or just simply feel stuck. It can be so frustrating when we have dreams and desires, but feel hijacked by our emotions, have trouble focusing, or find ourselves in repetitive patterns that no longer serve us.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
