Resilience is within each individual. We encounter different waves and hurdles in life that might keep us from having the lifestyle we strive for. Every once in a while we just need someone to work together with to identify the source of those obstacles and explore what possibilities there are outside of the box to get through life. To find that resilience within us and regain the balance of life. Myself and our other clinicians will be right here by your side, guiding you towards finding that resilience we know is within you.

My clients would describe me as genuine, caring, and accepting. I work with clients who have experienced trauma, micro-aggression and several messages from others and even from themselves to "get over it" or "get it together." My clients face challenges in finding fulfillment in their life and connecting with the world around them in a meaningful way. They are desiring a life in which they are able to fully embrace joy in the daily things and in their relationships. They want to be able to feel all their feelings without judgment and stress.

Welcome! Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and I am so glad you have made your way here. Everyday living can bring us to experience loss, grief, depression, anxiety, stress, and much more. Some experiences knock us down and shake us around a bit. As humans, we are wired for survival. So, when we are going through traumatic experiences our mind will go into survival mode sending such experiences to our subconscious to help us continue.

I work with the human psyche! WHETHER LIFE IS ON FIRE OR WHEN PAIN IS TOO STRONG TO BEAR OR IF YOU LOOK FOR PERSONAL DISCOVERY. My ideal client comes in in order to learn about how to tune with his or her psyche. Clients, in depth work, learn about the inner and outer relationships and how to connect with the things that lies underneath. I see clients who are looking for discovery of what exists beyond the behavior and their actions and who are willing to dive into learning about the forces that drive them.

Are you feeling lost in the midst of anxious and negative thoughts? Are you struggling to truly listen to what you want and need, instead of who you should be? Are you feeling the weight of your histories and want to find a way to feel lighter and more at peace? Therapy with me is an intentional time for you to rest, reflect, and grow. I work from a collaborative perspective, where the relationship between you and me is the brave space for you to explore and rehearse who you are meant to be, so you can be your truest self in the 'real world'.

Coping with life's changes can be overwhelming, especially when societal, familial, and personal expectations weigh on you. We all aspire to lead fulfilling lives and find happiness once more, but we are often expected to be grateful, to stop complaining, and to not talk about our feelings. So many of us feel these challenges but believe we’re the only ones. I was born in Hong Kong and came to the U.S. during my teenage years. Learning a new culture and speaking a different language while expected to be successful. Having support makes a world of difference. 请在页面上按“中文”以中文阅读我的简介

Self-Harming Therapists

How does therapy for self-harm work?

A person may turn to self-injury so that they can distract themselves from their stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances. Therapy can address the cause of an individual’s suffering. A therapist can help a person understand why they may want to self-harm and help the person learn new methods of coping. A person may have poor emotion regulation, and treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is helpful for breaking this behaviour. In addition, treatment such as dialectical behavior therapy can help a person manage their tolerance of distress.

Which therapies are best for self-harm?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, and mentalisation-based therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are common approaches for people who have painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual cope with distress, regulate emotions, and manage impulsive urges.

Does the tendency to self-harm mean the person is suicidal?

Having this urge does not mean the individual suffers from suicidal ideation. People who want to self-injure look to distract or alleviate themselves from the pain they are experiencing. People with suicidal tendencies want to end life altogether. However, this does not mean a person with the intent to self-harm will not attempt suicide.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for self-harm?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Clients may see improvement within 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, maybe, a six-month period. People, especially those with co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, may need to continue therapy for up to 12 to 18 months.
