Accepting New Clients. As an integrative and holistic therapist, I use shadow aspects of the individual and collective as tools for growth and understanding. I believe genuine healing comes from mindful awareness (being present to the experience of living), honoring emotions, cultural awareness, and curiosity. Relational approaches are at the foundation of my work, along with Depth Psychology (exploring how the unconscious shapes our thoughts and actions). When serviceable to explore, art and somatic based practices can be used, as these approaches offer rich sources of integration for artists and those in the healing profession.

I also have extensive experience in working with couples who are experiencing relational conflict.
I understand how difficult it is to feel anxious, sad, or depressed, and how those feelings can impact the relationships in your life. You do not have to face these challenges alone. My work as a therapist centers on providing empathy, understanding, and a safe place where you can openly express your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will process how the experiences and relationships in your life have affected your mood, your happiness, the way you communicate with others, and more importantly, the way you view yourself.

My areas of focus in psychotherapy are anxiety-related concerns, familial and relational trauma, issues related to self-worth and perfectionism, issues unique to being an immigrant or a child of immigrant, fertility challenges, and perinatal and postpartum mental health.
Do any of these sound familiar? You are constantly “on” and have a hard time relaxing. You want to do it all and have difficulty saying no. You have achieved a lot and have the external signs of success. Yet, you continue to feel anxious and not good enough inside. You’re aware of having emotional wounds that impact the way you view yourself and show up in your relationships. You understand the “why” behind your responses, yet you continue to feel troubled by distressing past events and cope in ways that are no longer effective. If any of these statements with you, you are not alone, and therapy can help.

Therapy works, and people can change. Living in a world that is highly relational, we often find that our toughest psychological problems are rooted in systemic relationship issues. I work with individuals and couples who are interested in developing healthier connections with themselves and with others. In order to make healthy relationships with others possible, one must foster a healthy relationship with oneself. In developing psychological health in ourselves, we become better able to interact with others in a way that does not cause us deep pain and ongoing frustration.

Hi, thank you for visiting. After 20 years as a therapist, I have found that people need a combination of support, insight, and challenging interactions to help them move past obstacles they are facing. I work with individuals on the most intimate aspects of their lives, including their sexuality, relationships, and life and death issues. My style is interactive and relational, and employs uncovering family of origin dynamics, but also more practical, EMDR and Brainspotting methods to help make changes more quickly. My specialty is in all aspects of loss and grief, addictions, eating disorders, relationships, trauma and cancer.

Depth defined refers to what's below the surface, the unconscious: psychic manifestations like behaviors, conflicts, dreams, relational recurrences, etc.
“Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.” Shakespeare: The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. To be human is to suffer. What we do with that suffering is our choice to make. Psychotherapy has to do with suffering, healing, and a serious contemplation of the deepest things in a person. I hope to meet you where you are and move with you at your own pace and desire.

I want you to have a meaningful life, as YOU define it. If you don't know what you want, I hope our work together will help you find that. Therapy gives us an opportunity to find and give voice to our authentic selves, achieving healing in the process. And as we heal, our relationships heal. I am passionate about working with couples, adults, and teens who have become stuck in unsatisfying relationships, destructive patterns, or their own individual pain. This "stuck-ness" can leave us feeling alone, misunderstood, anxious, and depressed. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space that is caring, challenging, and encouraging as we work together to develop new insights and create the personal and relational growth you are seeking.

Relational Therapists
How does relational therapy work?
Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.
Is relational therapy evidence-based?
Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.
How long are people typically in relational therapy?
Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.
Does relational therapy work?
While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
