I support individuals, couples and families through experiences of depression, trauma, anxiety, negative self-image, relationship challenges, transitions and other life challenges. My work incorporates training in modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy and Attachment-Based Family Therapy that are particularly helpful for couples and families in distress and seeking greater connection. I have also studied personally through a concentrated learning experience with Bessel van der Kolk (Body Keeps the Score) that informs a trauma-informed and depathologizing lens.

You’ve been living in fight or flight as long as you can remember. The past controls you and you don’t know how to break out of it. You fight the same mental, physical, and emotional battles every day with little reprieve. All your attempts to steady your body don’t seem to work. All your attempts at talk therapy don’t seem to last. You’re worried something in you might be broken. You’re also fearful that you might not be able to ever get well.

Having a baby has been so much harder than you ever thought it could be. You're feeling anxious, overwhelmed by your emotions & isolated- living in "survival mode". It's impossible to avoid reminders of what you've been through. You're replaying bad memories on repeat and imagining worst case scenarios. How is everyone else making this motherhood thing look so easy? Whether you're facing ongoing fertility process, feeling traumatized by a difficult birth, or need to heal a loss, getting support is an important step in moving forward without traumatic experiences interfering in your life, your relationships & your parenting.

Your story deeply matters to me. I provide relational, integrative, and sex-positive therapy to queer and BIPOC clients. My clients are looking to make their minds and bodies a safe home and are often the first in their families to have the courage to disrupt limiting beliefs and cycles. They seek to challenge expectations as they dare to redefine themselves wholeheartedly. Together, we will make space to explore the impact of generational and personal traumas, navigate the complexities and beauty of intersecting identities, and create meaningful, lasting, and accessible healing practices. Let's connect!

Hi, I'm Zoë. I'm a licensed psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in mental health. I work with adults and couples who are seeking a deeper relationship with themselves and with each other. I find that with acceptance of your true self, the more confident you will feel in communicating openly, making hard decisions, setting boundaries and making desired changes in your life. This holds true in our relationships as well. When we learn to accept realities about ourselves, we can then learn how to share our inner world with others. I would love to help you find deeper connection with yourself and the world around you.

So much can get in the way of our ability to receive and give love in healthy relationships. I enjoy working with people who are seeking healing from past wounds so that they can love themselves and others. I help people develop self-confidence and self-awareness that promotes creativity and deeper connectedness. If you’ve experienced trauma or if you struggle with negative beliefs about yourself, EMDR may be a helpful resource and is a specialty of mine. I am also certified as a Safe and Sound Protocol provider, which helps people experience a felt sense of safety and calm.

You feel stuck, resentful, or burnt out. You find yourself feeling overwhelmed by life's demands and others' expectations. You imagine: what if you had options, an opportunity for relief, or permission to show up differently. You're really good at putting the needs of others above your own, but you find yourself having trouble identifying and advocating for your own needs. Many of my clients describe themselves as people pleasing, high achieving, and overthinking. Therapy with me is an opportunity to honor the parts of you which seek to feel good enough, self-compassionate, and more at ease.

I help women dealing with stress, anxiety and burnout who want to experience more ease, embodiment, and nervous system regulation.
I help women who are burned out and have been burned by toxic, oppressive systems feel more grounded, clear, and connected to their best self. If you’re tired of the endless fatigue, feeling plagued by your never ending to-do list, wishing you could run away and actually take the break you need. Or, if you’re fed up with your relationships feeling unfulfilling, with working so hard to get nowhere, with living up to all the expectations, I want you to know that I get it, and there’s hope. You’re not lost, or too far gone, even if it feels that way sometimes. This is where your story gets good and when you find your own belonging.

The human spirit has an amazing capacity for resilience, but sometimes it's too hard to access it on your own. When we encounter challenges and problems in relationships, in our workplaces, in our families, we can feel overwhelmed, hopeless, & stuck. It's not uncommon to feel depressed or anxious, or seek out unhealthy ways to function that mask the hurt. It's in situations like these that it takes great strength to reach out and ask for help--to seek someone to come alongside and enter into your experience; help shoulder the burden, and rediscover and connect with that resiliency.

Every person has inherent creativity and a capacity to thrive. My role is to help connect you to your existing strengths and to help you try out new tools. When words are not enough, we can turn to more creative processes. Art therapy and EMDR are modalities that engage the body and mind, what we feel and think. Both modalities help us not only think differently, but also feel something new and healing.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
