Hello, my name is Souna Mohseni, LCSW 116044. I will help you understand yourself better and understand the life's rules. If you know the rules you will win/heal. You may be experiencing real pain in your life, but the beliefs, thoughts, and feelings you have about your pain can add to your suffering. I'd like to help you understand where these beliefs come from so that they can change the way you react to situations and develop a more positive and adaptive belief, and lifestyle. With increased insight and awareness, you may find that you're able to have more meaningful and satisfying relationships and enjoy life.

I believe taking the necessary time to provide attention to yourself takes courage. We have become too good at distracting ourselves with the every day demands of life and do not take time to nurture our own needs.

I focus on healing the wounds that have created internal negative "stories" about ourselves and the world to help people reconnect with their original creative, powerful, loving selves. Clients learn stress reduction and self-nurturing techniques to support themselves on the journey through processing trauma and throughout their lives. As clients heal from the past, they then learn new ways to communicate and interact effectively with others and to create the lives they wish to live.

Carey Sebera, LCSW. I allow the client to lead with their hopes and desires for therapy, and get to know what drives them. Therapy is not one size fits all, and I quickly assess what may or may not be effective with each person. Seeing patterns and addressing difficult behaviors is an important part of a therapist's role, but it takes willingness and honesty from a client. We only know what you tell us! I am trained in EMDR, trauma, and addiction. I look forward to helping you achieve the life you desire.

I use evidence-based practices such as EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Art Therapy and Couples Therapy.
Disconnected, frustrated, overwhelmed, confused, drained, or just a general sense of blah….sound like you? Let’s talk about it. That is really what therapy boils down to.. talking to an objective and open-minded person with the professional skills to help you find your way. It’s difficult to see through the storm when you’re in the middle of it. That’s where I come in. Standing outside of your storm to help you find your way through.

I am passionate about providing trauma informed care and I often rely on my training in both EMDR and ACT.
The most fundamental component to effective therapy is having a strong bond with your therapist. When we start therapy together, the first order of business will be establishing that type of bond. From there you will feel the support you need to start exploring the material you've come to therapy to heal.

I integrate psychodynamic and EMDR therapy.
Sometimes it's difficult to share what hurts inside. Maybe you've tried different tools, and things have not changed. That hurting may be preventing you from making decisions, connecting with others, or feeling like yourself ... I'd love to help you see through unresolved conflicts that are keeping you down. My approach is gentle, open, and curious. In our sessions, we'll build safety and we'll explore what hurts at your pace.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
