I use modern technology to track and visualize your progress and use EMDR to address deep rooted challenges.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and stuck? Everyday life is hard to manage? You know something has to change but you're not sure where to begin? Have you experienced trauma or painful moments that seem hard to control and let go? At this point you've probably noticed challenges in your relationships and work or school. It may be hard to see but there is a life in which you wake up feeling good and excited about what you can do compared to dreading what you have to do. Working through these challenging times can be the key to creating the life you want. I'm here to help you find calm, focus, and control in your life again.

I approach therapy from an intersectionally feminist restorative justice foundation and integrate tools from narrative and Gestalt therapy, EMDR and mindfulness, and DBT, CBT, and ACT.
My clients are often those who want to understand their ADHD or autism better, who have been dehumanized by treatment professionals in the past, who are frustrated by vague therapy answers, who fear they are "too much" or "too different". Overall, those who want to find the beauty in the darkness rather than denying the darkness, and who want to sit crooked and talk straight. I have particular passion for serving those with complex body relationships due to trauma, gender dysphoria, body image disturbance, disability, and systemic oppression.

Using an eclectic, relational approach to therapy (including brainspotting, EMDR), I provide support to couples and all members of the constellation moving through their family building choices.
I specialize in supporting individuals through journeys of life transitions, family building (foster care, adoption, or reproductive medicine), aging, grief/loss, and trauma. I support you as you learn to navigate challenges brought on by significant life events, look for the lessons hiding in such challenges, and find your way back to your heart amidst them. It is always a privilege and honor to walk alongside you as you seek to live life consciously - growing, living, or aging with purpose.

We'll use highly effective therapies such as EMDR for trauma, and experiential therapies focused on your core growth and healing needs.
Are you experiencing heightened emotional reactions or constant tension? Are you feeling anxious about daily activities? Are you struggling in relationships or having a hard time getting things done? Your struggles may have early-age roots and now you're wondering if the symptoms you're experiencing all have a common source. Trauma and life's hardships can have devastating impacts on your mental health. As a result, you may feel a struggle to get out of bed, or you may feel like you can't stop driving a hundred miles an hour. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to go through it alone. I'd be honored to work with you.

I utilize a variety of modalities including Mindfulness, EMDR, the Gottman Relationship Method for couples, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
You have taken the first step by reaching out which takes courage. Therapy is an opportunity to make yourself or your relationship a priority. This has been an exceptionally difficult couple of years. COVID has put pressure on us and on our relationships in ways no one could have imagined. My specialty is relationships, communication and trauma. Sometimes we find ourselves reacting in ways that even surprise us. You may find yourself asking, why is my reaction so strong? I feel terrible about how I handled things, again. This is not what I want for myself or the relationships that are important to me.

I also am trained in EMDR therapy, which is an evidenced-based modality that can help you re-process and heal from the lingering effects of trauma.
I am passionate about helping adults connect with their authentic self and form more consistent, secure, and healthy relationships. People often come to me when they experience symptoms of anxiety or depression, secondary to some form of relational trauma. Sometimes relational trauma may involve abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Other times, relational trauma can be more subtle, such as a series of misattunements from a partially absent caregiver, like a parent who drank too much or spent most of their time working. By healing relational wounds in therapy, you are making a long-term investment in deep, meaningful, growth.

My focus as a therapist is to help others on their journey to self-improvement and symptom reduction. I have extensive experience treating anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief/loss, life transitions, parenting, and relationship challenges. I have a strong background in trauma related issues and can incorporate EMDR into treatment. The primary framework from which I operate is based on Attachment Theory. This framework helps to analyze the way we relate and connect to others, since our primary relationships play a vital role to the way we view the world.

I believe that developing a trusting relationship with your therapist is essential. My training and experience have created the fostering of the origins of trauma and how it can affect all areas of functioning. I use trauma-informed approaches and am both a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certified Therapist. These modalities are instrumental in reducing the effects that long term and chronic tension, trauma, and anxiety can create in our daily lives.

I am trained in Gottman, EFT, family systems, mindfulness based practices, attachment-based therapy, and EMDR.
The decision to start seeing a therapist often comes after months, or even years, of emotional struggle. You may feel like you should be able to handle this on your own or you may be losing hope that things can get better at all. It takes courage, hope, and determination to reach out for help. This is why, as a therapist, I work hard from day one to make you feel comfortable, accepted, and heard. I want you to know that you are not alone and that I can help you get through this. My goal at the end of therapy is always for my clients to feel whole and healthy and deeply connected to the people around them.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
