Dr. Von Feldt is a San Francisco Bay Area, licensed psychologist who specializes in addiction and prevention as well as dual diagnosis issues. In his practice Dr. Von Feldt works with adults, and families. Dr. Von Feldt offers a variety of empirically validated treatments to help his clients succeed. Through his friendly attitude, warm character and good sense of humor, Dr. Von Feldt fosters a sense of ease that helps clients focus on the changes they want to make.

My ideal clients want to resolve the stumbling blocks in a variety of areas. Those include facing or have a family member facing a life altering medical condition and their challenges, dealing with traumas. Clients often come to me with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues. We explore avenues to overcome or adapt to those conditions. Many clients determine as we work together that they need help with how they communicate - with themselves as well as with others.

I work with clients ages 13 and older, individuals and families. Primarily, I work with clients experiencing issues with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, self-harm, identity development, parenting issues, parent/child relationships, alcohol/drug abuse by teens and adults, recovery and rehab issues and reestablishment in the family, codependence (and family members affected by ones substance use), bipolar disorder, ADHD, self-esteem, relationship issues, supporting medication management, as well as many other concerns.

Welcome. My participation in helping families in crisis has provided me with a deep understanding of systems, culture, patterns, trauma, substance abuse, and relational dynamics. I'm fully bilingual (Spanish) and bicultural and have worked with people from diverse backgrounds.

Each of us is unique. We all come from different backgrounds and cultures. People suffer in different ways and pain can manifest itself through our mental health in various forms such as depression, anxiety, and a myriad of physical and health problems. My goal is to help you make positive changes in your life in order to become the person you aspire to be. I believe no matter how challenging the process, we need to be content and be our authentic selves. In order to do this, we need to explore our struggles and gain insight and make positive change in our lives.

Sometimes looking for what you need is harder than you thought. Our Keystone team provides services that meet people in the different stages in their lives and goes along side you through your own self-determined growth process.

Life can be difficult, but you shouldn't have to take on its challenges alone. I'd like to provide a safe, supportive space for you to deal with those challenges, so that life feels manageable and even beautiful.

Sometimes the things that you are struggling with need some immediate relief. We will work together to create a toolbox for you to use to cope with and manage these difficulties, which may include aspects of cognitive behavioral and dialectical therapies. Other times, deeper issues are best pondered by looking at your early experiences and the present patterns that result from them. Object Relations and psychodynamic therapies may be helpful here. We have all been taught many things, and in looking at them now, we may find some are no longer useful.

I utilize a holistic and integrative approach that offers a safe, supportive setting, using dream analysis, mindfulness, art therapy, journaling, meditation and other creative ways leading to an authentic and more rewarding life. From my studies under Rev. Kawakami, deputy head priest of Shunkoin Temple in Kyoto in Mindfulness and Zen Meditation, I have developed this therapeutic approach that treats, balances, and nourishes the mind, body, emotions, and soul. I use a variety of therapeutic perspectives and techniques including Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Jungian, and Mindfulness-based interventions.

My practice specializes in mental health, family life, trauma and addiction recovery for teens and adults. I am experienced in treating co-occurring issues of addiction, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions and trauma. I have worked with pervasive mental illness, substance abuse, eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders as well attachment wounds and early childhood trauma. I help families and individuals untangle relationship and behavioral patterns and find new ways of relating to self and others, regulate emotions, identify core values and make meaningful and positive life changes.
