Are you tired of feeling stressed and anxious? Feeling stuck or overwhelmed by it all? At times, it can feel as though anxiety controls every aspect of your life. Your anxiety decides what you say or don’t, it impacts the choices you make, and holds you back from doing the things you want to do. Some days, before you even open your eyes, you may already feel anxious. You have done everything you can imagine to find relief on your own. A part of you worries that you are plagued with this anxiety for life, while another part of you knows it can get better.

Sitting with oneself, whether in individual, couple or family therapy, is not easy and I see my clients as courageous and hopeful for taking this step. Sometimes therapy is healing and transformational, other times it is simply a space to take some deep breaths. Either way, my practice is always client-centered and compassion-based, being present with you in whatever space you are in. My hope in working with me is that you develop a sense of self-compassion and a strength-based lens to view yourself and your relationships through.

We tend to build shields to protect from uncomfortable and distressing thoughts and emotions because we're not taught how to manage or experience them without the feeling of drowning. Avoidance of, numbing, or collapsing into emotional storms can keep us stuck in unhelpful cycles and disconnect us from a life of vitality. It can feel impossible to get out of these cycles when our thoughts try to convince us that we're broken, stuck, or not good enough, especially when we're trying to do it alone. Sharing our struggles with someone else can help us learn to look at (instead of from) them, and then be able to see how to get unstuck.

I work with chronic dieters, binge eating disorder, and poor body image. Your body does not determine your value. However, you're surrounded by a culture that tells you it's YOUR fault. You've dieted until you don't even recognize your relationship with food anymore. You can't hear your body, let alone trust it. Your concept of your body and your relationship with it are damaged. You just know you're not what you're supposed to be, not valuable or acceptable. You're binging one moment and dieting the next. We weren't designed to live this way. I can help! I’ve been there. If you’re tired of the weight cycling, let’s work to end it!

It takes courage to reach out to find a therapist! My therapy approach involves creating an alliance where you (the client) bring your own experience, emotions, and strengths, and I bring my academic background (PhD with an emphasis in trauma and PTSD) with many years of therapy training and experience to the table, and together we work toward understanding the challenges that you face, improving symptoms, and building resilience.

Healing isn't something we do best in isolation. As a therapist, I work with clients to build greater connection and community to support them on their path. My clients are women and LGBTQIA+ folks seeking therapy where they can show up and be seen as their authentic selves. Many have a history of trauma or have experienced interpersonal violence, such as domestic abuse or sexual assault. Others are working to manage chronic stress and anxiety at work or at home. Whatever concerns are bringing you to my (online) office today, I'll work with you from a place of respect, curiosity, and collaboration.
