If you are living with depression, anxiety or chronic stress, facing a life transition, grieving a loss, care-taking for a loved one, navigating strained relationships, or the many stages of parenting a teenager, divorce or blending families, or perhaps asking yourself, “what is my calling?” I can help you illuminate the canvas of your life.
I arrive at the intersection of compassion & collaboration as I respectfully guide my clients to explore new levels of awareness, self-empowerment, flow, & understanding. Working towards cognitive flexibility, wholeness, and healing. Using empathy & unconditional positive regard as a foundation, I may occasionally challenge you to bring forward awareness with a more direct approach. I welcome the motivation or perhaps ambivalence that comes along with seeking treatment. There is no perfection in the layers that define us, just a journey of experiences & lessons that await discovery, growth and honor.

Hi! I'm your go-to therapist for all things grief. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual virtual therapy to clients in California. I bring 9 years of clinical experience working with adults, young adults, and adolescents facing a range of mental health issues and wellness concerns. My specialty areas are psycho-oncology, fertility concerns/perinatal mental health, and trauma. What do these areas have in common? Grief. That's where I come in. I have a deep capacity to hold someone's grief while they experience it in its entirety and then learn how to cope with it as it shows up in different parts of their lives

I have been in practice 40 yearsOver time, my work has expanded from exclusive focus on treating adult children of alcoholics, to include- eating disorders, families of bipolar patients, academic underachievement, depression/ anxiety, trauma, and grief. Often these issues are interrelated, and sometimes the singular matter. Women-in-transition groups have also been a mainstay of my practice. Recently, I included hypnotherapy to deepen the experience where appropriate. As the practice continues to grow, I'm reminded daily that it is my life's privilege to work with families and individuals, helping in the growth and healing process.

I have taught expressive arts therapy (YWCA Counseling Center), grief counseling (JFK University), Pastoral Care (Holmes Institute), lead support groups for adult children of aging parents, for women diagnosed with cancers and long-term illnesses, for teens questioning everything.
Writer John O'Donohue defines my view of being a therapist: "This is what therapy is about: helping people retrieve what has been lost to them, wakening and bringing home their fundamental wholesomeness.. Therapists are like poets: they draw on the power of words in the profoundly creative work of bringing people fully alive to themselves, awakening in them the human capacity for divine imagination that ‘dreams our completion’.”

I work with Complex PTSD, BPD, Sexual Trauma, Grief/Loss, Substance Use, Anxiety, Depression, and Relationship Issues.
Are you tired of code/persona switching? Maybe there are some underlying behaviors & emotions that don't make sense & you want to learn more? Or maybe you can't seem to connect with someone who actually "gets it", which doesn't mean they're terrible people, because they're endearing when they try, but they just don't seem to fully understand. It's hard trying to navigate life & all it's complexities. As humans, we're multi-faceted, multi-dimensional beings which can be really overwhelming. There are parts that we love, other parts that we dislike, maybe even hate. This can cause to act in self-sabotaging ways, unintentionally.

Grief leaves you feeling like life has pulled the rug out from under your feet. You may feel overwhelmed with stress or anxiety, worried about what this loss means for your future, or angry that you're expected to ALSO keep going with life while you're in the middle of grieving. You might feel like nothing will ever be the same again. One thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You want strategies to help you right now in your grief. You're ready to process those heavy emotions and painful memories. Most of all, you're ready to have hope that things will be okay again someday.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 13 years of experience helping clients overcome the effects of trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress; the challenges brought on by grief, various stage-of-life transitions, compassion fatigue/burnout, relationship stressors, as well as those who may be launching into the adult world for the first time.
Are you an “overthinker” with complex feelings that are hard to put into words? Do you feel misunderstood, lonely, isolated, or unfulfilled? Are you striving to please others at the expense of yourself? Perhaps you feel exhausted, overworked, over-stressed, and as though you're never enough. You may crave a deep connection with yourself, your loved ones and the world around you...but may also find yourself struggling to make sense of the world. Unexpectedly life-changing or stressful events can increase these feelings, and hope for change can seem so far away. If so, you're not alone. I warmly welcome you to my practice.

I offer evidence-based treatments to address presenting concerns that include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, and relationship issues. I also work with clients looking for psycho-therapeutic guidance to explore intuitive eating, movement, body image, and exercise. My hope during our time together is to go beyond coping tools and symptom management, to provide therapy that leads to psychological resilience, growth, and development. I am theoretically-minded, and many of the sessions focus first on unraveling and exploring concepts, after which the ideas will be practically applied.

Life happens. Everything is running smoothly in our lives and then something occurs that throws us off balance: a relationship breakup, the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, divorce, or a trauma. Instead of a single event, it can also be the buildup of stress or the accumulation of various events that have occurred. Sometimes we just want to learn more about ourselves. It can even be a wound from our past from which we have difficulty healing. All of us experience obstacles in our lives that can become overwhelming.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
