Are you overwhelmed by the responsibilities in your life and all the things that need your time and attention? Therapy can be the support you need to get through a life transition andcan help you find effective ways to cope with a difficult time. If you are ready to feel better and want to regain a sense of control over your life, you are in the right place.

I use evidence-based approaches (ACT, DBT, ERP) to support clients in exploring their current situation, mental health symptoms, relationships, available strengths and past successes.
My clients present with mild-severe anxiety/depression, most often caused by trauma, grief/loss, emotional pain from attachment trauma experienced in childhood, due to various family dysfunctions. Most feel isolated, lonely and confused in their struggles, often ashamed that they cannot cope and too fearful to ask for help. Reaching out is a courageous step, and my clients seek to find relief from overwhelming emotions, to tell their story, be heard, seen, validated and understood from their perspective. In our sessions they improve awareness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and coping through insight and renewed clarity.

Our quality of life is determined by the quality of our relationships. Whatever your goals may be, change is an inside job, and I'm here to be both a witness and a resource in that complex process. When we can let go of shame and judgments around emotions, we allow space to cultivate more curiosity, compassion, acceptance, resiliency, and joy. I use a combination of support, encouragement, guidance, and accountability, through ACT, CBT, and other therapeutic models.
The pressure of being a woman in today’s society can be challenging, even for the most successful. The idea that we have to “do it all” in order to “have it all” can be overwhelming. Each stage of a woman's life can present a different set of challenges. Are you struggling as you are entering into adulthood or find retirement to be a challenge? Somewhere in-between? Do you feel guilty because you chose a career over a family, or a family over a career? Maybe you chose both but feel you are not living up to your or everyone else's expectations? Do you feel like part of your life is missing but you are not sure how to find it?

You may be finding yourself in a place of time where your life’s situation or way of thinking has exceeded your ability to cope. During these instances, the struggle to connect to yourself or others may feel harder to do. You are not alone in this. In each of our own ways the experience of “feeling off” can exist. All the while, we are connected by the human ability to find resilience and grow through conditions that promote value, care, and acceptance. My hope is that by unpacking these moments, we may strengthen the quality of relationships- with both ourselves and others for a better future.

I am absolutely crazy about helping humans access their full potential. I believe it is my dharma – or my sacred calling. I believe that each human being has a divine purpose. I believe that separation from this purpose is the source of much of our suffering. I see my role as a trusted companion on your journey back to this divine purpose - back to your authentic Self. In our work together, I invite you to reclaim sovereignty over your mental health through a process of radical acceptance.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
