Today’s world is challenged in many ways. And, challenges come from many directions. Family disruptions, parent-child conflicts, difficult co-workers, supervisors who don't know how to lead people, and managers who put their own interests or the financial needs of the organization first before their people. This kind of behavior can result in strained relationships, distracted attention, tense interactions, increased absenteeism, and much more. It can come at the hands of people low in 'emotional intelligence' like bullies, micro-managers, and disengaged leaders. Is this your life, family or work? It's time to do something.

Taking the first step towards getting mental health support can be a difficult task. My hope is that together we can openly discuss treatment options. I hope to join you to help with navigating dual cultures, handling situations with your children, navigating being an adolescent, or handling life transitions individually and/or with family therapy. I work with people struggling with anxiety, relational issues, women’s health, Latinx, life transitions, trauma, survivors of crimes, immigration evaluations. I use an adaptive approach to treatment by tailoring interventions to the unique needs of the client.

Hi! So happy you’re here. Deciding to start therapy is not always an easy thing to do so I am super happy that you have taken the first step. Let’s be real. Life is hard. Life is even harder when we don’t have someone we trust in our corner. Whether it be to process our past, vent about the present, or plan our future, sometimes we just need someone to talk to. Someone who listens, someone who doesn’t interrupt to talk about themselves, or maybe someone who isn’t family. As a first-generation Latinx therapist, I understand these struggles and how difficult it may be to find someone who "just gets it."

Parenting is hard whether you are trying to conceive or in the thick of toddlerhood. You wonder if you are doing enough and if you will ever feel like you got this. In our work together, you can learn coping strategies, process trauma, develop self compassion, and learn parenting strategies to build your confidence.

With experience in facilitating domestic violence groups, parenting groups, and coparenting counseling, I take a holistic approach to therapy.
I focus on supporting clients in taking ownership of their lives. In my therapeutic approach, I emphasize the role of creating meaning through personal responsibility. Many people get lost in repeating patterns that may not be serving them. I will help you create the insight around any patterns that no longer serve you, while directing you to take specific steps towards change so that you can actualize your purpose in life. Through an empathic yet direct approach, I will help you poke holes in the negative stories you may be telling yourself to make room for other types of thoughts that embody gratitude and possibility.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
