I specialize in working with interracial and mixed-heritage couples, couples with one or both partners with ADHD, and couples who are family planning, experiencing fertility challenges, or grieving a pregnancy loss.
Changes are hard, but not impossible. I believe lasting change occurs through profound self-understanding and awareness. This can be achieved through a collaborative relationship where we talk and think together to gain insights and meanings. My role is to provide a safe environment where a trusting relationship can be built. By listening to your stories, I will help you process the thoughts and feelings that emerge in order to develop a deeper understanding of your past traumas, inner conflicts, and destructive patterns. These newfound insights will then guide you to make changes in your current relationships or life situations.

I’ve been through the trenches of motherhood, dealt with postpartum depression and anxiety, and I’m all about normalizing the messy, hard parts.
Trying to do it all perfectly—nailing work deadlines, being the Pinterest mom, looking like a snack—all while feeling that you’re failing on every front. You're ready to go nuclear on the next person who touches your baby bump or asks if you’re breastfeeding... feeling like the world’s worst mom because you secretly miss your old life—freedom, brunches, and peeing without an audience. You're surviving the day on caffeine and sheer willpower, only to crawl into bed feeling like you’ve done nothing—even though you’ve been on duty all. damn. Day. Drowning in guilt because every other mom seems to have it all figured out. Reach out now!

Therapy shouldn't have to be complicated or intimidating. What is most crucial-perhaps even more important than credentials or education-is that you feel comfortable with your therapist. I'm a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and have over 20 years experience working with individuals, couples, and adolescents.

You are so worried about your child. She cries everytime you drop her off at preschool and she is so shy at birthday parties that she won't leave your side. You thought she would outgrow this, but instead she seems to be more and more afraid of things. She is happy at home, but she still follows you from room to room. You just want her to relax and enjoy her childhood. You remember when your child first started school, how excited you were! You thought she would soon warm up and make friends. You want to be able to pick your child up from school and hear from the teacher that she was just fine once you left. You want to hear about what your child learned, and that your child played well with friends.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.
When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.
How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
