If you are struggling with mental health, relational issues, stress, and struggles with substance use, I may be able to help. I have over 20 years of experience. Although I have the knowledge, experience, and skills to pass along, I do not consider myself an expert but rather a sounding board, an interpreter, and support to help clients develop their own insight and trajectory forward. I use a holistic approach incorporating psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, developmental psychology, and addiction treatment.

Life's challenges can often diminish our sense of joy and comfort, no matter how resilient we may be. Even the strongest individuals require support when faced with adversity. While the encouragement from friends and family can be valuable, it’s frequently insufficient for navigating the difficulties we encounter. By working together, we can cultivate the skills and strategies necessary to shift your perspective and enhance your life. My goal is to help you rediscover a renewed sense of vitality and to reignite your ability to experience joy.

I have been a practicing therapist for over 5 years now. I have worked with a diverse group of populations dealing with depression/anxiety all the way to psychosis diagnoses. I implement a lot of Trauma Focused CBT and Motivational Interviewing into my practice. My clients have often told me that I bring a genuine and compassionate atmosphere to sessions which helps them feel more at ease. I take a very nonjudgmental "at your own pace" type of approach. I want to ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way through your journey with mental health.

Women of all ages tend to experience anxiety embracing who they are, what they believe and feeling confident conveying this truth to others. When we do not behave congruently with beliefs, depression can develop. I have had success and joy treating twenty-somethings and teens. I approach this audience with an easy and open manner creating a relatable and accepting atmosphere. As a result, young people gravitate to me as they sense I attune to their experience with genuine care. I understand this demographic and the necessary guidance of a capable clinician to offer therapeutic support and empowerment through this unique life stage.

If you are looking at this page, you are most likely trying to get help. Finding a good match is essential to successful therapy. I connect with clients by listening and exploring without judgement. Clients have told me they appreciate my compassion, finding it easy to talk with me about difficult issues. Psychotherapy is a process of self-discovery where you learn why you do what you do, as well as how to change behaviors. Many hide their authentic self, conforming to the expectations of others. Psychotherapy can assist you in becoming reacquainted with yourself.

I am passionate about helping families manage difficult life transitions. Maybe the path to pregnancy hasn't been as easy as you thought it would be, or taking care of a newborn feels overwhelming. It could be that your school age child is facing stress or a change in behavior. Perhaps you are facing a new medical diagnosis, or are a caregiver to someone with a chronic illness. Or, possibly, you need to process your feelings of grief and loss.

I have experience in working with trauma, medical issues and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, gender identity and transition, foster youth and parenting, and caregiver stress. I was first attracted to this work when I realized how empowering therapy was for individuals who had dealt with trauma and loss while I was doing volunteer work. My drive to do this work is to help others achieve freedom from some of the things that are burdensome and keep them from living their best life.

Whether you find what you're looking for on my page, or another's, I am so proud of you for getting to this step. There can be great benefits to expressing and exploring thoughts, feelings, inner conflicts, emotional wounds in a safe space. Like many clinicians, I employ a wide range of modalities and interventions. I use a strength based approach, one that's honest, non-judgmental, but direct and explorative. You deserve happiness, a fulfilling life, and I'd be honored to walk alongside your journey to discovery and change. Although we are shaped by our experiences, you are so much more than what has happened to you.

I’ve had training in various modalities but ultimately use an eclectic approach emphasizing cognitive behavior therapy. I operate from the position that our thoughts strongly influence our moods and actions. My clients will gain a more intuitive understanding of themselves, better process their situation and consider which course of action makes the most sense. With some flexibility, a healthier perspective, and the right support, clients find that they are much more resilient and that situations don’t have to be as detrimental. My goal as your therapist is to support you on your path called life.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
