Daily life brings plenty of stresses, but most of us manage to function pretty well in spite of them. Sometimes, however, the stresses become more than we can handle, making us feel nervous, sad or angry. We might argue more with loved ones, have trouble sleeping or difficulty concentrating. Physical problems might show up like headaches or stomach complaints. If all this weren't enough, we might self-medicate by doing things like over-eating, excessive drinking or shopping. While these activities are actually attempts to self-comfort, a more productive way to gain relief when life gets out of control is to seek therapy.

Therapy is essential to healing from crisis-related trauma, however it does not always have to be crisis responsive. You may want to change self-defeating behaviors or develop or improve your sense of purpose. While the influence of life experience from infancy through adulthood is undeniable, I specialize in using person-centered therapy that focuses on the present with strengths-based, solutions-oriented emphasis and holistic and mindfulness practices that nurture self- awareness.

I am an LMFT, mother of two, first generation college graduate, Senior Leader at a community-based MHO and coffee enthusiast. I was raised by a single mother and an army of strong Latinas, along with the opinions and judgments of a traditional Mexican household. I've had my share of generational trauma and the struggles that come with navigating a culture you are being measured against that clashes with the one you are being raised in. I am not new to being 'the first' and find that this has become somewhat of a superpower and motivating force in my life.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples. I have lots of experience with high school aged kids, and tend to work particularly well with men that struggle with emotion. Anxiety issues often stemming from living a life that feels inauthentic is a theme which has provided ample experience on my end. Therapy can be a difficult and emotional process at times, but I have seen how beneficial it has been for people looking to make positive change if they are willing to do the work. I strive to improve awareness and authenticity in my clients lives.

Life is for bringing our brightness into being, yet we may carry emotional burdens that block joy and comfort. Or, we can feel stuck in “ways of being” that no longer serve us, experience an unrelenting “inner critic”, or alone and distant from others and our own inner light. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing depression, loss, anxiety, relational issues, or challenges with self-esteem/self confidence, and seeking to change behaviors and patterns not getting them the results they want.
