Dependent on the needs of my client, I use a mix of narrative, internal family systems parts work, acceptance and commitment, existential, somatic, and eye movement desensitization reprocessing ( EMDR) interventions.
Hello and welcome. My name is Chandra and I co-create healing spaces with women and non-binary identifying adults who are looking to integrate past traumas and life experiences, in order to have more self acceptance. Whether you’re new to therapy or looking to establish ongoing care, I am here to support you on your journey home to yourself. The human experience comes with inadvertent messaging of what parts of us are acceptable and what parts are not. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate these complexities to unearth their most authentic self, leading to a more fulfilling and connected life.

I help them to stop overthinking so that they can actual ENJOY life! I am certified in EMDR for the research based treatment of trauma & to help you overcome negative self beliefs keeping you from your goals.
You've been on this personal development hamster wheel for YEARS. You've read all self-help books and follow all the psuedo-therapy social media accounts... but it's not helping. You've been feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, and ashamed. You desire to have a "healthy" relationship where your needs and desires are put first... yet you notice that you're repeating the same relationship patterns again and again. You question yourself and your judgment frequently and you want to learn to trust yourself more than the opinions of others.

I am trained in EMDR, helping individuals find a way to heal the brain on a more permanent and organic level.
Positive and healthy experiences in our lives can enrich us, make us feel connected and help us have a clear understanding of what we want and deserve in our lives. For many of us we may have also had negative or traumatic experiences which can affect our core belief systems, leaving us feeling unworthy, unlovable or stuck in a variety of other negative thought patterns or behaviors. Please allow me support your work moving towards the life you truly want to be living.

I use EMDR for trauma.
I mostly treat couples who are navigating parenting and communication. But I work with individual clients too, Bay area residents who have multiple responsibilities and many demands placed on them daily. I help clients ease their doubt in social situations, calm down the inner critic. In my sessions we explore new ways to connect in many different circumstances. If you have fallen into negative thinking patterns, this constant worry may wear you down. I am there to be your collaborator, to find the best solution for you.

Therapies I use include Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR.
All too often emotional suffering feels familiar, a sense of being stuck in the same frustrating patterns. Talking about your struggles may provide some temporary relief, but may not produce the long-term change wanted. My approach involves a combination of practical techniques to help you alleviate your symptoms and using integrated mind-body modalities that offer the possibility of healing outside of the traditional "talking cure." Working together at the pace that feels right for you, we will help you connect to your core self, provide healing for the hurt parts of you and open new possibilities for your future.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
