Over 17 years practicing has affirmed my belief that most of the emotional wounding and on-going pain, difficulties, confusion and “stuckness” plaguing individuals, and the relational problems of couples can move and improve significantly in psychotherapy with a warm, intelligent, highly attuned, interactive, and skilled psychotherapist. I work hard at creating a safe, reliable and connected therapeutic relationship, in which the client feels comfortable, seen, understood and accepted for who they are, communicated with honestly and directly, and free to drive the focus, pace and intensity as feels right to them.

I have a particular interest in the enhanced opportunity for change and growth that come from big developmental transitions such as adolescence, becoming an adult and becoming a parent. Whether they feel the pain of depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, divorce or social and academic pressure, my expertise is in helping children connect with their inner strength and confidence. I support families in developing the communication skills necessary to allow children to grow and move forward in healthy ways. I believe all children are unique, and my goal is to help bring out the best in your child.

I support young people to find their voice, become more self confident, and communicate in a way that expresses their needs. Many times there is a disconnect between behavior and desires. I work closely to increase awareness of why these behaviors are happening and encourage an awareness to begin to identify triggers, with an overall goal of self awareness and self control.

Presently I am focused on peer consultation and public service. I mainly worked on providing services to adult patients with moderate to severe psychopathology, primarily Depressive disorders, Bipolar spectrum disorders, Anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD and Personality disorders. In addition, I treated people with complex medical problems, managing autoimmune disorders, cancer, diabetes and high risk pregnancies co-morbid with mood disorders.

Yet we can find ourselves avoiding the commitments and the profound effort that developing these require. We avoid hard work--physical, mental, or emotional. I love working with individual clients from teens to elders. It is a privilege to have a person's trust. I love to help clients in their 20's adjust to new independence after college and discover their passions and triumph over anxiety. I also enjoy helping adults over 65 manage life adjustments and build resilience. I very much value working with families and couples to resolve conflict and make decisions. I like to help clients improve romantic relationships, conflict with colleagues at work, and family dynamics. I speak multiple languages and am drawn to helping clients understand cultural differences in couples and families.
