Interventions are catered to what the individual needs and range from empirical modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, etc) to play therapy, music, art, mindfulness and general compassion and caring for the client.
An ideal client is someone who shows up. Not even in the way of making every appointment (life happens) but takes the first step toward growth and self development. An ideal client is not a diagnosis or impairment in functioning but anyone who wants to live better and understand themselves more within our weird and scary world. I encourage my clients to advocate for what is working and name what is not by checking in so our time together is the most supportive possible.

Finding a therapist can be overwhelming. Perhaps you’ve tried other therapists who didn’t meet your needs or they weren’t a good fit? This can feel discouraging, but know that you are courageous for taking the first steps towards improving your mental wellbeing. It’s not easy to recognize that you are struggling. It’s okay to feel like you need more support to process everything going on in your life. Whether it’s life challenges and transitions, coming to terms with your identity, or concerns about your personal, familial, or professional relationships, I am here to assist and guide you through this process.

Brittany M. Ramirez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California who has been practicing since 2013. Brittany helps people figure this "thing" out we call life. As she became a therapist working with clients, it became apparent that what Brittany does is help people with what she believes to be the human experience. So, that's what Brittany unofficially calls herself now: "the human experience therapist. " We all go through challenges, and they look different as we get older, but they never stop.

Please cont act me if you think you or someone you know could benefit from treatment that offers a personalized, customized and multidisciplinary approach to treating psychiatric, co-occurring and addictive disorders.
We are often ruled by thoughts and patterns of conditioning that are largely outside of our awareness. While adaptive, this process can sometimes lead us astray. I aim to help you uncover unhealthy patterns of conditioning by cultivating awareness through mindful intention which will ultimately help guide you towards a more conscious and fulfilling life. I have extensive experience working with individuals suffering from mood disorders, trauma-related disorders and substance abuse.

I draw on several therapy modalities to provide the best fit for my clients with an emphasis on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy ( ACT).
Hi! You made it (sigh). If you’re here, I’m guessing that you’re feeling some type of way, and that you’ve probably felt that way for a while. Maybe anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, and unsupported come to mind and you find yourself stuck on your couch scrolling your phone hoping for something that will finally start your life. You’ve tried to think your way out, distr act yourself from your feelings and it’s not working. Maybe even getting worse. I get it and I can help. I help young adults like you learn new ways to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing and get unstuck so they can live full, purposeful, and meaningful lives.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
