Therapy can be scary. Asking for help can be difficult. Let me be the first to tell you that I admire you for being willing to take this step. Guess what? The next one is to jump right in. Trust me, I know how hard it can be. The good news is that you’re not alone. It’d be an honor to walk alongside you in this time. Who am I? I am a therapist, a friend, a believer, a teacher, a wife and a mother. I genuinely love and enjoy people.

I am an empathetic trauma-informed Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. I specialize in Grief, Trauma, and Eating Disorders, having worked with these populations in multiple settings. As you are reading this you may be minimizing various experiences you have had in life. Often, we tend to minimize our experiences as a way of coping with them and the world around us.  While this may have been necessary at some point in life, I am here to support you through the process of looking at those experiences once again and learning how to hold them in a way that you may have not felt was possible.

Are circumstances, relationships, or mental wellbeing preventing you from getting the most from life? A full and meaningful life is your right by birth. Consulting a psychologist can help unblock your career, relationships, and lead to realizing your perfect life. Therapy can be brief, sometimes a course adjustment is all that's needed to get back on track. Sometimes taking a more holistic view and working through multiple areas of your life can provide time to heal, uncover hidden strengths, and empower you to live the life you envision. If you feel stuck, or have anxiety/trauma, that is keeping you from enjoying life, please call.

The first thing we work on, no matter what the problem, is establishing a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable and safe. We will work together on coping skills you can use in your day-to-day to better manage any symptoms that arise. My ultimate goal in therapy is to improve your quality of life. This means when something works we'll talk about why it worked and how you can continue to do what works. And when things do not work out, we'll talk about reasons why that might have happened and what we can do differently next time.

Unresolved trauma and shame can create a variety of unwanted psychological, physical, spiritual and financial consequences. Through integration of the self and resolution of shame and trauma people often feel more energetic, less triggered by outside events, experience improved health and may see shifts in their relationships and finances. When you Heal Yourself, you can Love Your Life.

It can be empowering, reorienting, grounding and refreshing to process through personal challenges in a safe and supportive environment. The experience of sharing our stories with someone who cares, provides support and highlights tools on your path of healing, can be truly life changing. Ask yourself today: "What is my goal? To learn self-expression? To experience freedom from unhealthy habits? To honor my losses? To feel contentment? To find relief from anxiety and depression? To achieve my dreams? To find support in putting words to your desires? To set boundaries?" Your steps towards support are ones of courage and hope.

Are you someone who's open to learning, exploring, and embracing personal growth? If you're ready to look inward, uncover fascinating hidden parts of yourself, and dive into deeper awareness, we can create a transformative journey together. Rather than focusing on specific issues and needs, I trust that the "right" clients will naturally find their way to me when they are ready to expand and heal.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
