Welcome to your first step toward healing & recovery! We all know that hurtful emotional experiences, trauma, stress and anger, confidence issues, complex life changes, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse impact our ability to thrive and form healthy relationships. I have acquired many years of behavioral health experience helping people overcome these issues. I have a strengths-focused, skills-based, integrated approach. I use powerful transformative tools like hypnotic psychotherapy, 3rd wave motivational cognitive restructuring (DBT, ACT, CBT), trauma desensitization, and mindful grounding to maximize treatment effects.

It’s a hard thing to be a highly sensitive person, and even more so when you’re also balancing the challenges of being a high-achieving woman. It’s all too common that we doubt ourselves or face mental health struggles, navigating the space between feeling both “too much” and “not enough”. Over the years of work that I’ve done, I’ve come to realize that the ease with which we navigate this space is largely determined by our ability to embrace and celebrate our strengths while simultaneously accepting and holding the parts of ourselves that we might not appreciate so much with non-judgment and self-compassion.

I help people fight the lies they tell themselves, build on truth, and integrate their faith with their reality. It is an honor to get to know a person, their joys in life and their story all the while helping them process and heal from past and present hurts. I counsel to build lasting relationships and support systems, embrace their emotions without letting them take over, and learn the power of resilience.

I help people get unstuck, break free, find clarity, and move forward. When we work together, you will experience a space free of judgment and full of grace and understanding. You will also experience challenges to set aside behaviors that no longer serve you and you'll be encouraged to identify with the bravest, kindest, most hopeful part of yourself. My clients often say to me, "you are harder on me than my previous therapist(s)" and my response is often the same, "It's because I believe in you." And I do! You've got a beautiful life to get on living. So let's get to it.

Courage, dear heart, as life will present you with surprises and in time, you will manage each one with bravery. Our families can push our boundaries; our relationships can challenge us; and our careers can stretch us so thin. Negative self-thoughts can keep us in our heads and repeating old patterns can feel like a roller coaster of emotions. Past traumas can intrude our present; social injustices can break our community down; and gender and cultural inequalities can be an exhausting battle. Our self-care can plummet and suddenly we are not our first priority. However, you are leaning in today and making an investment in YOU!

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
