Welcome! I work with couples and polycules looking to deepen their understanding of one another, improve trust, communication and intimacy. As a neurodivergent therapist, I enjoy working with mixed-neurotype relationships (where one or more partners identifies as ADHD, autistic, PDA / demand avoidant, or OCD). I support my clients in better understanding the ways their neurotype, past trauma and attachment affect communication and the patterns and cycles within their relationship. I help create a safe space where both partners can show up as their full selves and heal together creating lasting change.

I have had the honor of working with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, sexual and gender-identity related issues, family dynamics, and more. I believe that human beings are inherently relational and that we are born to thrive in connection to others and wouldn’t be who we are if not for the people that have come in, and sometimes out, of our lives. Examining these relationships can be a huge part of therapy, whether it’s with our parents, our partners, or with ourselves.

You are a highly motivated, hard-working, and responsible person. You value your relationships and achieving your goals. However, your anxiety often keeps you from taking the necessary steps to do the things that are important to you. You have spent so long fighting and struggling to feel better that you feel completely out of control in your life and with your emotions. You are exhausted, overwhelmed, and are ready to stop struggling and start living the life you imagined for yourself. You have tried everything under the sun to manage your anxiety but it only brings temporary relief. You are ready for lasting change.

Welcome! I work with autistic people and those who love them! I have personal experience in this area, I am a neurodivergent (ADHD and PDA) therapist who is a parent to a "neurospicy" autistic/PDA chid. PDA is pathological demand avoidance, or as I like to call it “persistent drive for autonomy". Although not yet an official diagnosis in the US, my goal is to create community and support around folks who identify themselves with these traits. I support teens, adults and couples around autism, PDA and ADHD and better understanding and communicating their needs to others.

Welcome! I specifically work with neurodiversity at my practice. Neurodiversity is a fancy way of saying that I work with all different brain types or "neurotypes" in my practice. I work with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Sensory Processing issues, among other neurotypes. I am a neurodivergent therapist myself, and my lived experience helps me to empathize and relate to my clients deeply. I take an affirming lens in my sessions, combating stigma and ableism, and assisting my clients to become more fully themselves. I am EMDR trained and trauma informed in my approach to therapy.

Welcome to my page! I work primarily with neurodivergent (autism, ADHD, PDA) clients and mixed neurotype couples/polycules . As a queer, and late diagnosed neurodivergent therapist, I love helping others to understand themselves better and advocate for their needs. Receiving my own diagnosis in adulthood came with grief and I’d love opportunity to help you work through the complicated emotions inherent in this type of identity exploration. Working with my brain instead of against it as been incredibly healing and has drastically improved my mental health; I hope to help my clients achieve the same freedom.

Are you seeking a couples therapist that specifically works with ADHD, autism, and mixed neurotype couples? That's me! I am neurodivergent myself, and I love exploring with couples how they can learn to communicate in ways that are affirming for each other's neurotype. Our neurotype (ADHD, Autism) affects the way we perceive the world, communicate, regulate our emotions, and the ways we express love. I am trained in couples therapy methods (such as the Gottman Method, EFT) and I work intentionally to make these methods neurodiversity affirming. I love to help couples understand each other and have those lightbulb moments!

You’re exhausted from taking care of so many things all at once (isn’t that how it tends to happen) but when you stop to think of what you just did, even that seems like a blur. You’re on autopilot, stressed out and in your own head (which tends to be pretty negative). Life hasn’t panned out how you thought it would, and it leaves you feeling like it's just not enough. Like you aren't enough. And it's been hard to sit with all these feelings, so you keep pushing through it. But you're ready for something to change, because you’re tired of keeping up with people's "perfect" perception of you.

Life can be challenging enough when we don't get in our own way. As it turns out, many of us never learned how to identify and manage our emotions, relate to our worries and self-judgments with compassion, or navigate relationships from a lens that considers how our past experiences might influence how we connect with others today. If you are seeking another way to live, with less suffering and more peace, you are in the right place.

Being addicted to alcohol or drugs is like being in a dark pit where you do not know what is up and what is down. It is cold and lonely, and you can feel hopeless about finding any escape. Being the family member of a loved one who is struggling with addiction is scary and can leave you sad and in a constant state of uncertainty. You are always asking yourself why is your loved one pushing aside the life ring you toss out and grabbing the anchor of drugs and alcohol over and over and over again. You see they are drowning and feel you cannot save them. Addiction is insidious, but there are paths to recovery.

I help people fight the lies they tell themselves, build on truth, and integrate their faith with their reality. It is an honor to get to know a person, their joys in life and their story all the while helping them process and heal from past and present hurts. I counsel to build lasting relationships and support systems, embrace their emotions without letting them take over, and learn the power of resilience.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Balboa Park, San Diego?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
