My passion is to help people, by listening and by working together to find practical solutions, I would never judge or impose my views but I would always empathize and try to understand the situation. I am bi-lingual and bi-cultural with a vast experience treating families, couples and adolescents. My goal is to always have a "good session" and for you to come out encouraged and empowered.

"We as human beings never transcend the need for human connection" Irvin D. Yalom..... Welcome, and Hello.. If current life circumstances have brought on more than you currently can manage on your own. You don't have to try to figure it all out alone. I have worked in the profession of mental health for over 20 years, in different capacities. I am currently licensed with the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Having a readiness, willingness, and ability to confront our issues can be scary, and hard. Having a roadmap and support allows us the confidence to face anything life throws our way.

I am a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 8 years of experience. I have a diverse professional background, specializing in substance abuse, mental health, anger management, self-worth. When trauma occurs it affects you to the core. Every part of you is on edge and in fear of the known or unknown. Difficult memories become so overwhelming that your only way of managing is with alcohol and substances. What starts as a temporary relief from reality can turn into an overwhelming cycle of despair and struggle. Your new trauma is now an addiction to alcohol or substances and all of the hopelessness that comes along with it.

Welcome to my practice. I have been in practice since 2007 and have been featured on ABC, NBC, and KCAL as an expert psychologist. I work primarily with men who have hit “rock bottom” and would like help getting up. These men are often in crisis when we first meet. The issues I address are typically related to unhealthy sexual behaviors, infidelity, financial recklessness, gambling, drugs/alcohol, dishonesty/lying, and relational conflicts. My therapy approach is a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, and the 12-Step recovery model. I also share insight from my own painful but redemptive recovery journey.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
