In the beginning, your relationship felt fun, connected and loving, but now there’s distance between you, leaving you feeling more like roommates than lovers. When you talk, neither of you feel like you’re getting anywhere, or most of the conversations are about schedules, work or kids. One or both of you may feel lonely in the relationship at times. There may be some painful experiences that haven’t been healed, and some trust has been eroded. The possibility of enjoying each other again, as partners, lovers and friends, is one you and your partner feel ready to explore. You both long for a more meaningful and joyful relationship.

Hello, I’m Jade. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. My passion began in 2010 when I received the opportunity to coach junior high girls, and high school boys volleyball. I found myself counseling athletes about balancing school, relationships, and the game of volleyball. This experience inspired me to learn about the psychological aspects of balancing life while experiencing emotions. I discontinued coaching and pursued my Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Argosy University and later I received a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Alliant International University.

I have had the privilege to work with individuals, children, teens, and families to provide support for anxiety, depression, behavior issues, parenting concerns, exploration of spirituality and religion, communication challenges, and family relationship difficulties. I have been trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and enjoy encouraging and supporting caregivers as they learn how to navigate the joys and struggles of parenting. I have also been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which allows me to help others process and find healing from past traumatic events.

When we feel safe and accepted as we are, we can challenge ourselves to grow. My goal is to create with you, a safe place where we can learn from the old habits of behavior or relating, and explore less familiar sides of you that may offer surprising ways of feeling, thinking, living and relating. Sometimes making changes can feel daunting, and counseling can provide the support and guidance as you build a more fulfilling life for yourself.

There are times in our lives when we can benefit from having a therapist to help guide us through various life challenges. I approach my work with individuals by developing a therapeutic alliance and work collaboratively towards their treatment goals. My focus is to help individuals work through their unresolved issues that may be interfering in their present lives, reduce negative emotions, identify and build on their strengths, increase insight/awareness of themselves, and develop positive coping skills they can use to successfully manage life stressors.

Relief from distress. Initially this is what brings most people into therapy. Emotional pain is difficult to express and can feel isolating. Making the first move to get help for your anxiety, depression, self loathing or communication problems requires that you trust the therapist at the other end. I hope that a personal, caring approach can help you put your life in order. Your immediate concerns and goals are my primary interest.

As Brené Brown so eloquently wrote, “Vulnerability is not weakness, it’s our most accurate measure of courage.” The ability to share one’s vulnerabilities in a judgment free and empathic environment has the potential to be transformative and empowering. The courage to seek counsel and address hardships or burdens you feel in any stage of life is truly inspiring. It is my passion to encourage you through life’s inevitable pain and struggles, help you remain steadfast in who you are, and walk alongside you on the journey to transform pain into meaningful and lasting growth.

I support women and teens with change, recovery, exploring patterns, balance/wellness, attaining goals, self-discovery, self-esteem, & mindset.
When we can find meaningful direction our world is a better place, but life can come at us unexpectedly, leaving us feeling lost, disconnected, confused and in pain. I have chosen to specialize with women because I understand the uniqueness of the issues and complexities that women face. Additionally, the power created when women support each other with honoring themselves, is limitless! I also specialize with teens in helping them with their developing sense of self, problem solving skills, coping tools, and finding their way in a complex world. It is a true honor for me to pay witness to other humans’ journeys.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
