I would describe my therapeutic approach as empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, embodied, and collaborative. I draw from a variety of models to meet clients where they are. I provide a humanistic, relational psychodynamic perspective that offers space to explore how past experiences shape present patterns of relating to others and the self.

My therapy style is adaptive, collaborative, and responsive to your unique needs and therapy goals. I am committed to supporting you in an emotionally and physically safe space as we explore ways to empower you to live a more healthy, satisfied, and meaningful life as you define it. We can together explore what that could be for you as you take the first courageous step in seeking a therapist that can support your personal healing journey. We can also adjust the pace of therapy should you choose to spend more time exploring your inner emotional and thought life, past or present challenging life circumstances.

As a first generation college student of immigrants I have enjoyed working with those in transitional stages in their life. Whether it is starting at a new school, becoming an adult, starting a new career, becoming empty nesters, or other life transitions. I believe it is important to learn about an individual's whole life to have a better understanding of what is bringing them to therapy. I create a safe space where I hope to earn a client's trust and help them heal along the way. I psychoeducate client's along the way and teach them how to psychoeducate their loved ones so they may have the support they need in all areas.

Are you a woman who on the outside everyone sees you as put together and accomplished but internally, you’re breaking? The overthinking, self-doubt, and feelings of unworthiness are overwhelming. You are tired of feeling anxious like you don’t measure up. You are ready to feel confident and whole in your own skin and at ease in your body. Many of my clients identify as overachievers, people pleasers, and perfectionists. You are insightful, want a deeper understanding of yourself and your past experiences, and are ready to step into your power. You are not alone and have come to the right place.

I am flexible in my approach as each person may benefit from a different style. However, I'm particularly interested in how the past plays a part in our current day experiences, and how we may free ourselves of unwanted (internal or external) burdens when we can understand their origin. Whether your goal is to dive into a specific issue or topic, or if you need general support as you navigate lifestyle adjustments, I aim to guide my clients in building a more authentic connection within themselves and the world around them.

Hi, and thanks for browsing my profile! I want to congratulate you on taking this crucial first step in your recovery. It's so important to choose a therapist you can trust and relate to; after all, no therapist (and no single type of therapy) is right for everyone. You may need to address a traumatic event in your life, or some other challenge to your mental health. Perhaps you're ready to work on improving your most important relationships. Or maybe you just want a safe space to talk things out with someone who will listen and support you. I’m here to help. My name is Mark Summers, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Hello, my name is Lourdes Ixcamey and I have been a licensed therapist for the past 8 years. Ever since I graduated with my Master's in Social Work, I have worked with children and their families providing individual and family therapy. I work with children and adults providing outpatient mental health. As a therapist, I have worked with many conditions in children that include anxiety, depression, and school issues. The benefit of being able to work with both children and adults is that I also have the experience to work with the adult population that struggles with life in general.

When a person decides to talk about their thoughts and feelings, or their situation, I believe they deserve to be listened to. What a person has to say and their views are critical to me. I also think my clients hold many solutions within themselves. My therapeutic style is caring, open, and honest toward this end. You can expect a high level of interaction, energy, and a touch of humor. I approach therapy with an eclectic assortment of approaches and tools to individualize our work together to meet your needs best. I will enjoy working with you toward the goals we set together.

I specialize in helping women find their inner beauty, so that they can be and give the best version of themselves. I accomplish this by helping unpack behavioral, relational patterns and/or distorted perceptions that hinder from being who you are designed/created to be. While you can't change your past, you can, however, do the work to better understand how you function in your relationships. So that you can begin to make better choices in your present and future. I truly believe that if you can change your mindset, you can change your life. Lastly, I love to talk about relationships, singleness and pre-marriage preparation!

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
