Aloha! Life is full of change and transition, and that means life is also full of times when we need extra support to manage the anxiety, depression, and/or distress that often comes along with it. If this sounds like you, you're in the right place. I like to think of myself as a treatment partner, not someone who sits silently while you figure out your own path forward. That means I take a holistic, collaborative approach to treatment, with a nod to evidence-based practices, such as CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, as well as using EMDR and trauma-focused CPT for PTSD and other trauma-related symptoms.

I approach services with a trauma-informed, compassionate, non-judgemental lens.
My aim is for therapy services to have similar accessibility and normalcy for mental health, as other services have for physical health. Therapy is a beneficial practice in healing what ails our souls. My goal is that our sessions will be a safe space for you to learn, explore, reconnect, grow and heal. Therapy is not one size fits all, and I tailor fit my approach to your individual needs. I have extensive experience with adolescents, and love working with teens, young adults, families and couples. I'm also happy to offer services in Spanish as well.

My specialties include a Christian focus when working with couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties (divorce, separation, infidelity, life stage transitions); child/adolescent problems (ADHD, anxiety, depression, peer pressure, bullying and social skills); adoption, foster care and blended family issues; and individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and issues related to loss and trauma.
As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I believe that one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Beginning in therapy can be a way for you to start to put together the pieces of your life and who you are. And ultimately, you deserve to live a life that leaves you excited to wake up every morning. If you're someone that struggles with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, LGBTQIA issues, and past trauma, I'd love to help you work through those challenges. I want to be the therapist that helps you along that journey.

Life is full of challenges that overwhelm us. It stops us in our tracks and we think "how did I get here?" Whether it is grief, fear, lack of motivation, excessive worrying, indecisiveness, poor choices, trauma, addiction, or relationship problems: therapy is a tool to help, if you are open and reach out. This is when you need someone who is genuine, safe, non-judgmental, caring, supportive, and redirects gently to help you decide the next steps in YOUR journey. In therapy, we will focus on healing, process past wounds, identify triggers, create healthy boundaries, explore solutions, and find the path that is right for you.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
