I am licensed in California with 20 years of professional work experience. I have experience helping clients with stress, anxiety, trauma, abuse, and parenting issues. I also have experience working with clients coping with life changes. I worked with children and their families for nine years, but I prefer to utilize play therapy, so the platform is not conducive to that. I have also worked with adolescents and adults and feel competent in treating them. Utilizing EMDR has been very effective with trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Hi, I'm Jeanine Bourcier, LMFT. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, life transitions, self-discovery, and relationship challenges. I follow a Solution-Focused approach utilizing an integrative experience that draws on tools from many theoretical orientations to help you reach your wellness goals through self-empowerment. While therapy is a tool that can help us uncover and change long-standing issues from our past, it can also help us to grow and transform into healthy, thriving individuals. Sometimes therapy is about individual personal growth and not treating what is “wrong” with us.

In therapy, we may work on managing or reducing depression symptoms -coping skills for anxiety and stress -PTSD and dysregulation -substance use (self-and/or a loved one's use) -healthy relationships and boundaries -coping with a loved one's serious mental illness I would be honored to be a part of your story.
I'm Molly Sullivan. I'm a Bay Area native, a lover of all bodies of water, a dog person, and a trained clinical social worker. I feel lucky to have a career that allows me to bring my authentic self to my work and harness the power of human connection. Therapy has the power to transform our relationships with ourselves, and, by extension, with others. I help to bring my clients into a more loving and understanding relationship with themselves to heal old wounds and make more space for ease and joy in their lives and relationships.

While there is no typical client with whom I work, my most satisfied clients share commonalities: First, despite their levels of depression or anxiety, they felt they could be better.
My name is Michael Villanueva, and I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California. I have worked as a professor at a university, providing research and clinical services on remote tribal lands, served as a combat clinical psychologist in Afghanistan, and implemented research with computational neuroscientists at UC San Diego on the effects of psychedelics on the human brain. I provide individual talk psychotherapy (including telehealth) and Neurotherapy in my office. I record and analyze my clients’ EEG (i.e., brainwaves), which provides me with a personalized approach to neurofeedback training to address my clients’ symptoms

Have you said these statements? "I woke up and I don't know the person I am sleeping with?' "We don't trust each other" or "she just won't get over what happen." "I feel like I am not good enough, I feel hopeless." I like working with individuals and couples facing difficulties with boundary issues, infidelity, emotional and physical abuse, as well as issues with anxiety. You need to feel heard, validated, and supported. I can help you identify triggers that cause significant distress and give you strategies to challenge negative beliefs that limit your ability to function in the relationship. This is the foundation of my work.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
