My ideal client is open to growth despite challenges like trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, or family stressors. They seek therapy for support in managing emotional and mental health and are motivated to explore their inner world for insight and healing. They need a safe, empathetic space to process experiences, learn coping strategies, and improve relationships. Their goals include achieving emotional stability, enhancing self-awareness, and integrating spiritual beliefs into their healing. They aim to transform pain into strength, finding purpose and fulfillment, ultimately seeking empowerment and understanding.

For those wanting therapy from a Christian point of view, I work from a strong Biblical perspective, in conjunction with sound psychological insights.
Afraid to burn out your friends with your problems? Or maybe you need more input than a friend can give? I have been there and found counseling to be life changing. Let's face it. We can all get stuck and not know what to do. I will walk with you through your struggles. Tears or laughter may be a part of our time together. I am a skilled listener and easy to talk with. If you are facing fears, relationship or marital struggles, depression, parenting problems, caring for adult parents, codependency or other personal concerns, give me a call.

As a relational therapist with a Christian worldview, I will help educate, enlighten, and empower you to experience whole-life transformation, MIND, BODY, and SOUL.
“Trauma creates change you DON’T choose. Healing is about creating change you CAN choose.”- Michelle Rosenthal. Trauma is an experience, not an event. Every human will experience some form of trauma in their lifetime. We can’t compare one trauma to the next as it’s real to the individual experiencing it and we all deal with our experiences differently. Trauma is what happens inside of us because of what has happened to us. It takes courage and effort to move beyond the pain that has maintained control of our thoughts and behaviors.

I believe it is such a privilege to be able to sit with people daily and hear their stories. As a therapist I work hard to create an environment where you can be real and honest about who you are and feel safe. I will listen, and validate, but I will also challenge you to grow. I find Joy in helping my clients to get clear about who they want to be and working with them to get there. We get there through a lot of self exploration and reflection. When we have a better understanding of why we do what we do, we will have more success in changing our negative patterns.

So often in our lives we experience pain and distress. So often we are unprepared to handle the circumstances we are presented with. Pain affects us all, but suffering doesn’t have to. During therapy you will gain the necessary tools to tolerate stress, build resilience, balance life, and reduce the impact of negative core beliefs.

We all want to feel connected and truly known by the ones we love. At times we find that we have tried so hard to show our love to someone, but they just didn't see it or feel it the way we intended it – or they can't/won't reciprocate in the way that we need it. Families form our very foundation- we learn about love and conflict, both positive and negative. Our family is what shapes our ideas about love and relationships. Therefore, to have healthy and happy relationships, we look at your past, in order to move you forward. We will identify the parts of you that need healing, give you tools, and begin caring for those parts.

I remember when I looked at mental health, physical health, and relationships as separate. I thought everything had to fit in its own box, and didn't influence each other. But in fact, they DO. I now see how poor boundaries can affect how we eat, cope & practice self care. I can see how our relationships with our parents affects the way we see ourselves in relationships. As a therapist, I recognize that most people want a quick fix to improve their quality of life and relationships. However, it takes courage to acknowledge our habits, lifestyle, and self-limiting beliefs about ourselves. It also takes time to connect the dots.

I enjoys working with children, teens, and adults. My passion is working with the teenage population, and challenging young minds to overcome difficulties that they face. I have the belief that not one type of approach or intervention works for everyone, which is why I like to incorporate my clients interests and needs in therapy. I enjoy challenging the mind of my clients, and aiding them in understanding emotions, behaviors and thought processing.

Perhaps my best quality is my ability to meet individuals where they are, acknowledging and respecting their unique perspectives and experiences. There is great power in safe and non-judgmental spaces where people can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of rejection. My commitment to helping people on their own terms is at the heart of my therapeutic philosophy. Therapy is collaborative. As a compassionate guide, a seasoned listener, and a tenaciously courageous ally, I see myself as a partner on your journey toward self-discovery and well-being.

Life is full of complexities, "messiness," as well as beauty, in relationships with others and especially with ourselves. As a culturally conscious therapist, I strive to create safe spaces for people to learn and figure out who they are, what they want and explore who they could be. All of this is addressed, without judgment, regardless of faith, gender, weight, culture, or race. I am deeply committed to helping individuals, couples, families, systems and institutions. Together, we move toward an understanding of what drives us to do the things we do, who we are, and ways to live to our fullest potential, with self, and others

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
