I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and Arizona, who has practiced for 23+ years and specializes in ERP for OCD and EMDR for painful life experiences resulting in anxiety.
I specialize in helping people identify the deeper root of their anxiety and relationship stress through ERP and EMDR sessions. You had a painful experience & who you were & how you saw the world - just aren’t the same anymore. You feel lost, angry, & afraid. Maybe you experienced a divorce, trauma, got a medical diagnosis, or lost someone (or something) that you love. Maybe it happened suddenly without any warning or maybe the fact that you knew it was coming, made it feel even worse. You need someone who understands & can help you put the pieces of your life back together. You want to feel whole and hopeful.

Hi. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) which means I pretty much work with everybody, adults, teens, and families. I help people reduce anxiety and suffering by increasing their self-esteem. You may wonder, "what the heck is self-esteem? And how do I get it?" I know I did. Those who work with me are most often suffering from intense anxiety which they have learned to cope with using unsustainable behaviors such as oppositional behavior, eating disorders, isolation, and social avoidance. I especially work well with resolving parent-teen relations, those suffering from anxiety, and all types of eating disorders.

You already go to weekly therapy and you feel stuck. You feel alone, your friends and family care, but they don’t understand or know how to help. You want to experience deep therapeutic work that can change your life. Instead of waiting months or years, you want to feel whole again. Maybe its not about a “trauma”, but pervasively feeling not good enough, an unresolved shame, you feel responsible for everything and everybody, professionally like an Imposter, or avoiding making necessary changes in your business and relationships. Clients have sought my help through divorce/ relational trauma, grief, and painful family experiences.

I provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment that can help those who are feeling overwhelmed with the challenges they face in their lives. I believe every individual is unique and worthy of living a peaceful and enjoyable life. In the past, I worked with parents and children as a parent volunteer in schools and coached soccer; thus, I taught them skills such as persistence, endurance, and discipline to help them to reach their goals. These skills are valuable and essential because they are needed in sports, academics, relationships, mental health, and to reach the end of the tunnel in order to see the light again.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
