My ideal client has general anxiety and depression. They range in age from adolescent, young adult, middle aged to seniors. I enjoy working with children but in person is best since play and art are used as approaches.

I use training well beyond basic CBT/DBT in practicing Relational Psychology, which includes Attachment, Dream Analysis, Art Therapy, body work, and other methods to engage our unconscious. Proven by neuroscience, many of our motivations are stored outside of our awareness, in what C.G. Jung called our Shadow. The Shadow includes reactions learned in childhood, now responsible for repeated lifelong patterns. I use Brainspotting (BSP) to reduce emotional reactivity, but the real work begins in psychoanalysis of anxiety, abuse, depressive symptoms, addictions and eating disorders, to bring choice for the life we want for ourselves.

I am so honored that you are taking the opportunity to review my profile. I have been in the field for 22 years and have been a licensed marriage and family therapist for 18. For many years, I worked in the secular world and began working primarily as a Christian psychotherapist in 2010. I will never go back! The difference I’ve seen in my clients since then has been astounding! If you’re looking for a psychotherapist that is responsible and is extremely dedicated to your well-being giving all the glory to God, you have come to the right place.

Child therapy for children with big emotions and challenging behavior. Evening & weekend availability. We teach therapeutic play skills and behavior therapy skills for children ages 1-12 so parents feel confident to dissolve big emotions and manage challenging behaviors. These strategies come from the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and the PC-Care parenting protocol of UC Davis Children’s Hospital. These therapies are nurturing and effective and the CDC has recommended PCIT for children under 6 with ADHD before trying medication. Let's work together to increase peace & connection in your home!

This is too much, the constant worry, the inability to relax, and the he art pounding fear that seems to shatter your self-worth. So-called simply task of getting out of bed, completing daily task or leaving your home almost seem to paralyze you and causes an overwhelming feeling of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and feelings of failure. All you want is to feel better; but questions of whether you will be able to trust someone with your thoughts without feeling judged, are lurking.

I am excited to st art working with you!.
I provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment that can help those who are feeling overwhelmed with the challenges they face in their lives. I believe every individual is unique and worthy of living a peaceful and enjoyable life. In the past, I worked with parents and children as a parent volunteer in schools and coached soccer; thus, I taught them skills such as persistence, endurance, and discipline to help them to reach their goals. These skills are valuable and essential because they are needed in sports, academics, relationships, mental health, and to reach the end of the tunnel in order to see the light again.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
