Stepping into self-awareness and self-discovery takes courage. Often we brush off or delay the process because it feels overwhelming. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth writing home about. I understand that we cannot change the past, but we can work together to uncover and remove the barriers that block the connection to our authentic self. Together we will explore and eradicate long-standing behavioral and thinking patterns that may be holding you back from experiencing a purposeful life. Are you ready?

(Services in Spanish available if needed) Processing difficult experiences with an empathic and informed therapist can make the process less difficult and can help diminish the impact symptoms are having on your every day life. My goal is to help you identify current challenges, learn new ways of coping, engaging and interacting, and empower you to make meaningful changes. Using evidenced-based approaches, I provide quality care, meet clients where they are at and tailor treatment plans to your current needs. I will promote a safe space where you can share your emotions and not feel judged when discussing your vulnerabilities.

You want to understand why you’re stuck, but more so, you want to learn how to move through it and grow. The hardest part is reaching out for someone to care – to find that you’re not alone in your pain and fear. The answers might seem far away and you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, wrestling with beasts of sadness, anxiousness, hopelessness, fear. Whether your relationship with your partner or child feels distant, or your view of yourself, your body, or your future seem bleak – you're ready to be un-stuck.

Do you have trouble saying no? Does it feel impossible to stay present? Want to dig deeper into the past or explore identity? Are you or your loved ones repeating behaviors or relationships and wishing you could break the cycle? Sometimes, we aren't sure what causes our distress, but we can sense we're not reaching our potential for health, happiness, or success. And even when we know the cause, change can still feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is to listen without judgment, help you understand the root causes of your difficulties, and teach you practical tools to help change your life. I will also be honest with you.

“Love and anger are such a puzzle!" Mr. Rogers exclaimed, "It’s the people we love the most who can make us feel the gladdest . . . and the maddest! It’s hard for us, as adults, to understand and manage our angry feelings toward parents, spouses, and children, or to keep their anger toward us in perspective. It’s a different kind of anger from the kind we may feel toward strangers because it is so deeply intertwined with caring and attachment." Does this sound familiar? You are not alone.

As a therapist active in the field of counseling for 5 years, I have experience working with men, women, and teenagers navigating through anxiety, depression, addiction (personal/familial), eating disorders, OCD, co-dependency issues in relationships, faith-related dilemmas, and a variety of traumatic experiences (PTSD, sexual/physical abuse, etc.
I want to applaud you for the courageous act of saying “Yes” to yourself by seeking out professional support. While this can be a necessary step in the journey towards healing, I recognize for many of us, it can be an intimidating ( and even scary) step, to say the least. Whether it's the feeling of anxiety overtaking you, depression debilitating you, or just the stresses of life overwhelming you, you are not alone! My hope is to create a safe space for your emotional pain and help you not only get "unstuck", but to explore together how you got derailed in the first place.

I also enjoy helping clients heal from abuse, regulate emotions, and build confidence.
Can't focus? Are you overstimulated or struggling with negative thoughts, painful memories, imposter syndrome, self-esteem, or decreased motivation? Do you fall into patterns in relationships, friendships, or work and wish you could break the cycle? Sometimes, it isn't obvious why we do the things we do, but we can sense we're not our most authentic or successful self. Even when we know the cause of our distress, changing our behavior can still be hard. That's where I come in. My job is to listen without judgment, pressure, or bias and help you examine the root causes of your challenges to create the change you want in your life.

All of a sudden you remember that you have to do this. That thing that is so important to get to, that you have yet to do. The thing that you don’t really want to do. If only you could put it off your head. So now you’re keeping yourself busy to avoid doing it. But the more you avoid doing it the worst you feel. Why can’t you just make yourself do it! And just like that you’re on edge again. The uneasiness will follow all day long now. Then the negative thoughts come. “Everyone will know” “I cannot fail” “What is wrong with me”. The more you think about it, the worst it gets, the worst you feel. You used to handle it on your own.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
