Do you struggle with anxiety or depression that affects your ability to function and quality of life? Do you feel disconnected, lonely, and unfulfilled by the 9 to 5 and staring at a screen? Is it hard to focus, decide what you want, and make your dreams happen? Do you know that life could be better, but don’t know how to get there? More than ever, people are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about the future due to personal struggles, as well as global concerns, such as climate change, politics, or other social issues. Even with so much out of our control, I believe you have the power within to create positive growth and change.

As humans, we tend to shy away from pain. In order to heal the pain, we must first acknowledge it. When we take a closer look at our pain, a number of emotions can emerge. In therapy, I will provide a safe space for you to experience emotions and memories that are difficult to face alone. In session, clients experience me as attentive, compassionate, and authentic. By exploring and asking questions about your experiences, I will help you create a strong sense of self-awareness that will help you navigate life difficulties more effectively.

I believe therapy is about connection. Therapy is based on the connection with your therapist to create a meaningful, supportive space to explore your most vulnerable emotions. Therapy can help you strengthen your connection with the people in your life in a positive and hopeful way. And most of all, therapy can grow your connection to your most authentic self. Therapy can help guide and support you through times of stress, build communication and interpersonal skills, and develop a deep understanding of who you are and what you want out of life.

If we are lucky in this life we will experience many inner deaths, each an opportunity to shed parts of self, to embrace our own expansion, and enter the next dimension of life. If we fail to die, we fail to grow. We have lost the ritual container that holds our rites of passage and without the containment and guidance that goes with it many of us feel lost, hopeless, deficient in some way and without a sense of belonging. Therapy in the depth tradition has become a space to compassionately witness and accompany individuals in the alchemical process of healing and growth.

My areas of focus include: the LGBTQ+ community, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, complex trauma, relationships, and people pleasing.
I believe everyone is capable of living their fullest, most vibrant life and it is my passion to help them achieve it. I help clients foster insight by processing their past experiences and gently uncovering the ways their pasts connect with their current struggles. I teach clients to discover the patterns and rules that keep them stuck and then support them in cultivating a life that brings them joy and fulfillment. I invite my clients on a journey of self-compassion and teach them how to prioritize gentleness and self-care. I believe therapy can be silly and even fun while still being impactful and effective.

I have had the privilege to work with individuals with generational trauma, grief, ADHD, and relational/familial issues.
When we are exposed to trauma at an early age, it can seriously impact how we feel about ourselves and our relationships with others. Trauma can also profoundly affect whether we feel this is a safe world and can contribute to depression, anxiety, and relational/familial issues. My practice is from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective with a non-judgmental framework. I aim to understand clients’ internal responses and to provide more options for emotional regulation and problem-solving.

Now as a psychotherapist, I cultivate positive change in adults, teens, men, and those with performance anxiety (professional sports, acting, and public speaking), ADHD, and trauma (racial, religious, and childhood).
In the journey of healing, navigating life’s vast experiences can be daunting without guidance. Healing is an art, a delicate craft where one wields their life force to reshape both inner and outer obstacles. Trauma, a subtle artist, paints filters on the canvas of perception, shaping our view of self, relationships, and the world. Within these lines, It would be an honor not only to guide you but also to help you cultivate regulation, reclaim your strength, and build a foundation of tranquility and happiness in your life.

My goal is to help people with anxiety or ADHD (or both) figure out ways of working with/around their default patterns rather than fighting against them or trying to be a different person.
Stressed, stretched, or scattered doesn’t have to be your normal. The people I work with usually have spent months thinking about doing therapy before taking action. Some hesitate thinking, “I’m just being lazy, I need to be more disciplined, more organized, and stop procrastinating. I just need to try harder.” Others think, “I’m worrying over nothing, it’s silly, I just need to ignore the worry. It’s not that hard.” But it’s not working, hasn’t worked, and it’s fueling the “just try harder loop.” You still feel stressed, stretched, or scattered. If you’ve tried trying hard and trying harder, maybe it’s time to try something else.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
