I help couples talk successfully about the difficult topics: anger management, sexual problems, money issues, parenting disagreements, past hurts that never got resolved, affairs, anxiety and depression issues, communication skills, avoiding talking about the issues, too much bickering, alcohol and substance issues, and relationship with family and in-laws.
Are you feeling emotionally distant from your partner? Or are things mostly okay, but there is that one topic that you two can never really talk about in a healthy way? Find out how to stop bickering and have the happier relationship you desire. Are you feeling unloved, distant, and lonely in your marriage? Feeling tension when he/she enters the room or when that certain topic comes up in conversation. If yes, it may mean you've missed earlier warning signs that something is off track in your marriage. There is help for marriages that are losing passion, connection and love. Contact me if you want to talk about your marriage.

Most of us would like to feel closer to those we love. However, we often get stuck in patterns of relating and conflict that fall short of what we truly desire. My passion is to see people find healing and experience growth as individuals and in their personal relationships.

As an integrative therapist, I draw from different psychotherapy orientations. This allows me to tailor therapy to your needs and allows for a truly collaborative process in deciding where we go and how. Since successful therapy depends on a strong relationship between client and therapist, my first priority is nurturing that bond by creating a safe and supportive environment. I believe therapy is most effective when it is flexible, demystified, and client-centered, so you can expect me to be transparent about my ideas and approaches. My style is at times infused with humor and is always warm and direct.

I remember Aunt Rose always saying “Aging isn't for sissies”. Now that I’ve reached “old age”, I’m very aware of how right she was. Our bodies stop cooperating. Our appearance changes. And grief and loss hover dangerously near us . Old age is an opportunity – and maybe our last opportunity - to find contentment, peace and ease, in spite of intense emotional and physical states that old age brings. It’s a chance to really get to know ourselves more intimately and to accept what is. I work with older adults who are interested in exploring the complexities of aging while making meaning out of life and practicing acceptance.

I help couples to change their relationship patterns so that they can feel heard, understood and loved by their partner once again. Couples usually come to me feeling intensely frustrated and stuck in reoccurring issues that, despite their best efforts, they are unable to work out. I help couples get to the heart of what is so difficult and then communicate in new ways that allow connection where there was previously only hurt, anger or distance.

It is my therapeutic goal to provide a thoughtful, individualistic approach to each client. I believe that utilizing a variety of clinical skills allows me to fit an approach to each client rather fitting the client to a theoretical construct. I understand therapy to be a means to delineate that which is not gratifying in your life and determine the changes necessary to allow your life to blossom. I look forward to supporting and guiding you through this process as it can be a challenging as well as exciting journey.

It can take time, effort and courage to call and arrive at a therapist's office. There is the apprehension of what this experience will be like, especially if it is your first time, or perhaps if you are trying again after a previous unsatisfactory experience. After you make the call, and once you begin, there is hope. And that alone is enough to sustain you while you work toward self-understanding and/or improved communication with your mate or children. The investment is worthwhile. The relief can be profound.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
