We live in a fast paced world, and in the best of times this can make it difficult to reach our personal goals. Therapy can provide the opportunity for meaningful change whether you are having difficulty adjusting to a transition in your life or are experiencing significant difficulties that are impacting your ability to function. I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your unique experience and the areas of your life you want to enhance. I believe therapy is a collaborative process and I would welcome the opportunity to support you through a transformation that allows you to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself.

What assumptions are holding you back from the life you have imagined for yourself? What possible regrets might you avoid by connecting more authentically with your true wants and needs? Our individual struggle may be recent and feel minor, or life-long, serious, and seemingly unsolvable. These struggles often show most profoundly in relationships with those closest to us, in career difficulties, or in a broader desire to connect with personal meaning. No matter your circumstance, I humbly offer myself to you as a trusted companion on your journey to explore positive change through therapy.

I’m so glad you’re here. I became licensed 10 years ago and began practicing 15 years ago. In that time, I’ve had the privilege of supporting countless people through the most challenging periods, circumstances, relationships, choices, and losses of their lives. I find the work I get to do with clients to be incredibly rewarding and effective, seeing people understand, process, accept, and change things about themselves, their relationships, and their lives that had caused them tremendous pain and shame. I welcome all clients to embark on this journey with me as we together will find the unique approach for your concerns and goals.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
