I believe that issues exist on many levels, and so should therapy to create change in truly enduring ways. Understanding the richness of your unique identity requires looking at the intricate tapestry of life through considering various dimensions.

Many of us are shaped by our experiences and aren't fully aware of the effects these experiences have in our everyday lives and relationships. We question our feelings, our thoughts and our reactions. But, they all tell a story. Our approach to treatment is attachment-based and client-centered. The emphasis is placed on exploring your values, experiences and what is important to you. Sometimes speaking to family and friends just isn't enough. We can help guide you through the process of knowing yourself and being able to understand, accept and express your emotions.

Hi and welcome! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about me and how I approach therapy. Life is more demanding and stressful these days than ever before. There are many ways people cope with personal challenges. Going to therapy is just one option. Therapy provides a unique opportunity to explore yourself, your relationships with others, and your goals and aspirations. My approach is simple: together, let's find practical ways to cope with personal issues and, if appropriate, let's look into how your past experiences have affected how you are currently coping. I will provide a safe space to explore this personal journey.

Accepting new clients! Have you found yourself struggling with aspects of your life that keep you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck? Are you coping with grief or another type of loss or life transition? Maybe you’ve lost a loved one, pet, or part of yourself and life just doesn’t feel the same anymore. Maybe you are coping with midlife issues like aging parents, empty nest, divorce, or menopause that make you feel like you don’t know yourself anymore. Now more than ever, people are feeling isolated and unsupported. Sometimes we don’t even know how to care for ourselves when there’s so much to do to stay afloat.

You’re not a big fan of yourself. You are your own worst critic and get in your own way. Relationships feel unbalanced and you give a lot more than you get back. Boundaries…what boundaries? You wake up feeling unfulfilled, uninspired, less than. You’re totally exhausted from feeling this way. Whether it's people pleasing, perfectionism, looking to the outside to fill the inside, feeling unloveable; it's all about building the relationship you have with yourself, which is the foundation for everything. This is my superpower as a therapist. I will help you realize your value, appreciate your uniqueness and become a fan of yourself.

Do you identify with being "people pleasing" or "highly sensitive?" Do you feel like you have hidden anger and tend towards self-criticism or self-doubt? You may also experience brain fog, fatigue, trouble sleeping, or have been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition (ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, POTS, Dysautonomia). These can be frustrating and painful experiences. I work with people who want to know why these feelings and physical symptoms persist, despite their best efforts. Together, we can identify the steps you can take to feel more assertive, develop more self-compassion, and alleviate or eliminate your physical symptoms.

We often go through life transitions unaware of how the past might still have a hold on us. Sometimes we simply need to take a moment to reflect on how experiences and relationships have shaped our perception of ourselves and situations. Processing how past traumas are linked to the present can help us to recover, heal, and to understand how behavior patterns and responses are formed in the first place so that we can change for the better.

In my work with individuals and couples, I seek to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment in which individual and relational issues can be explored. In this environment, challenges become opportunities for growth. I use a psychodynamic approach to explore what is occurring in one's life and/or relationship in the present, what occurred in one's past which influences the way one views him or herself in the present, and what may be going on at an unconscious level which impacts one's choices, behaviors, and beliefs about self and other.

From a young age, I found my passion in helping others. I knew the pain of feeling alone in my struggles, and having someone to talk to who understood made a difference. And as a mom of a teenage daughter, I witnessed the impact of OCD firsthand. My approach to treatment starts with building a connection. I'll meet you where you are and help you recognize your strength and power as you take control of OCD. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for people with OCD. Our deep understanding of OCD's nuances allows us to properly diagnose and treat it.

You are innately worthy. When you truly believe and remember that, your life falls into place. I help clients feel heard, seen, and grounded so they can experience honesty in their relationships, fulfillment in their work, and confidence in themselves. In my former life as a TV producer and comedian, I loved operating at a high level while making people laugh – no matter how dark or difficult things sometimes seemed. This quality eventually led me to become a therapist. As your therapist, I can help you optimize your work, harness your creativity, and find balance in your life; all with a healthy dose of humor and authenticity.

I help adults make sense of their experiences in a meaningful way. People come to me who are inquisitive and trying their best, yet still feel detached and longing for a better understanding of their lives. Oftentimes they’ve been in the driver’s seat going 100 miles an hour for years and can’t quite figure out how to slow down. Together, we work to slow fast-paced life, be present, and ultimately, see the once-blurry scenes in a clearer way. Just as each road trip is unique, so too is our tailor-made therapy. If you’re open-minded, motivated, and filled with curiosity, let’s see if we’re a good match!

You make it through the day to day but inside you’re fearful, anxious or depressed. You’re bottling things up and lashing out at seemingly insignificant things later. The demands of your job & personal life are starting to feel like too much to juggle even though you’ve always been good at juggling it all. It doesn’t seem like something you can talk about. Everyone thinks you have it all together and besides you feel ashamed. Holding all this in is starting to make you feel lonely. You know life should be different but you’re overwhelmed and you wonder how everyone else seems to do it so easily.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
